In India, after completing higher education in science stream for graduation, many students go for engineering or medical science. Computer Science or Bachelor of Science in Computer science is a course which can be opted after 10+2 examinations. The main motto of this course is to prepare candidates into professionals and researchers who can work for the computer and software engineering.
Computer science in easy words is studying computer systems and to solve and analyze the computer software and computer hardware problems faced by humans. BSc (Hons.) Computer Science is a very famous course in the field of IT. Computer science graduates have huge demand all over the world. Candidates learn subjects like JAVA, C++, advanced data systems etc. Subjects such as Introduction to Digital electronics, Front office management, Numerical analysis, Python programming etc., are taught. It is very important to have good knowledge of Math in this course. Average Fees for the course BSc. Computer science in different universities and colleges is around 10,000 to 1 Lakh Per annum. In this fee structure, many things are included such as the facilities and amenities provided by the college. Facilities such as Labs, Library, campus life, canteen, Hostel, guest lectures, webinars, fests etc. other than that, some colleges and universities also take donations from students. Students who are not able to afford the fees can look for the scholarship schemes, Bank loans etc.
There are tons of Job opportunities after completing a BSc (Hons.) Computer Science degree. Graduates can get jobs at big industries, IT Sectors, corporates, Banks etc. Job positions would be system analyst, IT Manager, software programmer, Database manager, lecturer, Project manager, Network programmer, computer graphics, UI/UX developer etc. Average salary for a fresher would be from 2.5 Lakhs to 4 Lakhs LPA. It also depends upon the placements given by the college. If a college provides placements from top companies, then students have an easy achievement in finding a perfect job for them. This is the reason why every college should have their own placement cell to provide great placement facilities to the students.
Many people get confused between BSc (Hons.) Computer Science and B.Tech Computer Engineering. It should be kept in Mind that BSc (Hons.) Computer Science is a theoretical course and is only for 3 years whereas B.Tech computer engineering is an engineering course which is more towards the practical knowledge of IT tools and knowledge. Both the subjects are quite different in terms of subject, syllabus etc. Generally, BSc (Hons.) Computer Science is a merit-based course and very few colleges take entrance exams for the course whereas for B. Tech there are many entrance exams such as JEE, state level exams or institution level exams. Because of 1 year less duration in BSc (Hons.) Computer Science, it is inexpensive compared to B. Tech Computer Engineering.

For UG Course: -
The student needs to fulfill all the eligibility criteria mentioned above and if there are any specific criteria mentioned by colleges, then the student should look if he or she is eligible according to the criteria given by the college.
Almost all the colleges take admission on merit basis and some may take entrance exams. So according to the preferred college of a student, he or she should see whether the college is demanding for an entrance exam or on merit basis.
After which, the students should fill the application forms provided by the college. Generally, the forms are made available in the summer season, some colleges give the forms online while others distribute it offline.
After the cutoff is declared for merit results or for entrance exams, students who can clear the cutoff marks are eligible to enroll themselves into the university or college.
For PG Course: -
The admission process is the same as the UG Course but for merit results, the marks obtained in bachelor’s courses are considered by the universities or colleges.
As mentioned earlier, the BSc (Hons.) Computer Science courses do not have fixed or common entrance exams. Only a very few colleges demand a certain entrance exam which is generally an entrance exam conducted by the college itself, which is called institution level-based exams. Now, some colleges may also demand a state level common entrance exam.
For e.g.: - In Maharashtra, the state level common entrance exam is MH CET. So, some colleges in Maharashtra may ask for the results of the MH CET entrance exam. Other than this, there are some entrance exams of different colleges and states which are popular for BSc (Hons.) Computer Science course such as: -
