    Students preparing to take admission in various PG and PG-integrated courses in IITs and IISc Bangalore are required to fulfil the JAM eligiiblity criteria 2026 to appear for the entrance test. There is no age limit for IIT JAM 2026, but general and OBC category students must have completed their UG courses in relevant field with at least 55% aggregate marks or 5.5 CGPA out 10; whereas, SC, ST and PwD students require 50% aggregate marks or 5 out 10 CGPA.

    Who is Eligible for the IIT JAM 2026?

    Candidates need to check out the IIT JAM exam eligibility before applying for the entrance exam. The following are the important points on who is eligible for the IIT JAM exam.

    • Candidates who have completed their bachelor's degree from a recognised university in courses such as B.Tech /B.Sc/ B.E. in a relevant field are eligible to appear for the IIT JAM entrance exam 2026.

    • There is no minimum age limit required for the IIT JAM 2026 admission.

    • Candidates who have taken a gap after their undergraduate or those who are working professionals are also eligible to apply for the JAM entrance test 2026.

    • There is no limit on the number of attempts to appear for the IIT JAM 2026 entrance examination.

    • Candidates can attempt the IIT JAM test 2026 as many times as they wish, as long as they fulfil the JAM eligibility criteria 2026.

    IIT JAM Eligibility 2026

    Students are required to check the education requirements to get admission to their desired IIT JAM courses. The IIT JAM eligibility percentage is the minimum marks aspirants must have secured in the subjects to be eligible for the exam. There is no IIT JAM age limit that students need to worry about considering they fulfil all the other requirements.     IIT JAM 2026 Eligibility Criteria

    General/ OBC

    • Candidates should pass the qualifying exam with a 55% aggregate or 5.5 out of 10 CGPA.

    • In case, when a candidate is promoted in the qualifying exam without a marksheet, he/she must have the promotion certificate or another certificate or document as evidence for promotion including the names of the taken subjects and marks scored in the subjects by him/her in the semester/year.

    • The promotion certificate or document should be signed by the head of the institute to provide evidence for the minimum educational requirements (MEQ).

    SC/ ST/ PWD

    • Candidates should pass the qualifying exam with a 50% aggregate or 5 out of 10 CGPA.

    • In case, when a candidate is promoted in the qualifying exam without a marksheet, he/she must have the promotion certificate or another certificate or document as evidence for promotion including the names of the taken subjects and marks scored in the subjects by him/her in the semester/year.

    If your IIT JAM status shows “Under Scrutiny: Defect Rectification Done”, it means your correction is submitted and under review. Keep checking your portal, once verified, it’ll change to “Accepted” or “Found Defective.” Updates usually appear within 2–3 days before the portal closes.

    For IIT JAM BIOTECHNOLOGY EXAMINATION the 4 subjects are PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, MATHEMATICS AND BIOLOGY and the candidate must be graduated with other criteria. Nowhere in the eligibilities it is needed to have mathematics in +2 level.
