JAM Result 2020 - IIT Kanpur has declared the JAM 2020 result in the form of merit lists on March 16, at the official website joaps.iitk.ac.in. For announcing the JAM result 2020, the authorities have prepared an All India Merit list based on AIR for each test paper of JAM 2020. Qualified candidates of JAM can download the JAM scorecard from March 31, which carries the All India Ranks and marks of the candidates. According to the result of JAM, the number of candidates included in the All India Merit List is determined by the total number of seats available in each category (OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD) of a given subject. Candidates who get a place in the JAM merit list are considered as qualified in the test as per IIT Kanpur. Such candidates, as per the JAM 2020 merit list are eligible to apply for admission to any of the corresponding courses available at the IITs and the IISc. It must be noted that the candidates have to check his/her qualifying status from the JAM result 2020 (merit list) from the respective category list selected by him/her at the time of application filling.

According to a media report, a total of 14,623 candidates have qualified the JAM 2020 exam by securing the JAM cut off 2020. In other words, over 23 per cent candidates have been able to qualify JAM 2020. The report says that while 73,360 candidates had registered for JAM this year, only 62,654 could make it to the exam. This means that 10706 registered candidates skipped the examination, which is around 15 per cent of the registered candidates. This also means that around 85 per cent of the registered candidates had appeared in the examination.

How to Check JAM Result 2020
Step 1: Click on the official website jam.iitk.ac.in. It will redirect you to the JOAPS portal.
Step 2: A new login window will appear on the screen.
Step 3: Enter the enrollment id/e-mail id and password

JAM 2020 Result - How's Merit List Prepared
While it's known that the result of JAM is released in the form of merit list, it's also important for candidates to know the process of calculating or preparing the merit list. JAM 2020 merit list has been prepared based on the following parameters and the marks given to the test takers.
- For each correct answer carrying 1 marks weightage, 1 marks will be given
- For each 2-marks question, 2 marks will be awarded if the answer is correct
- Unattempted questions will fetch 0 marks
- If attempted incorrectly, -⅓ marks will be deducted for 1 marks questions
- For each incorrect answer in 2 marks questions, -⅔ marks will be deducted
How are All India Ranks given to candidates in JAM?
The All India Ranks are given to the candidates as per their performance in the entrance test. All test takers, who appear in the JAM exam are allotted AIRs.
Tie-Breaking Criteria of JAM 2020 Result
In case two or more candidates secure the same scores/ranks, then a formula is applied to break such a tie and allot different ranks to the candidates. Check the JAM tie-breaking formula below.
1. A higher rank is given to the candidate having the highest ratio of positive marks.
2. Further, if this criterion doesn't resolve the tie, then the candidates are given the same ranks.
The scorecard of IIT JAM 2020 has been released in the online mode on March 31. IIT JAM 2020 result scorecard is available for only those candidates who have cleared the entrance examination. Candidates need to keep the JAM 2020 result scorecard for the future references until the final offer letter is released. IIT JAM scorecard 2020 includes the name of the candidate, registration number, qualifying marks, All India Rank, number of candidates appeared in the entrance examination and the name of the course.

What after JAM Results 2020
After JAM 2020 results are declared, qualified candidates are required to apply online (by using the prescribed admission form) available at JOAPS website. Qualified candidates can fill and submit the JAM admission form, the dates of which will be announced soon.
What's JAM Cut off
The admission authorities release the cut off of JAM at two stages - at the time of result and at the time of admission. The JAM cut off released at the time of JAM result announcement is the minimum marks that candidates have to secure in order to be considered for the further admission process. However, at the later stage of admission, the authorities release the category-wise JAM opening and closing ranks of the candidates who have been offered admission. These opening and closing ranks are also considered as JAM 2020 cut off ranks.
JAM Result Sharing Institutes 2020
Apart from the 20 IITs that offer direct admission to various programmes based JAM scores, there are a couple of institutes which do not directly participate in JAM admission process, however, offer admission to some courses based on the scores of JAM. In other words, these institutes are JAM result sharing institutes.
Only IIT Bombay for M.Sc.- Ph.D. Dual Degree in Energy and IISc Bangalore and IISc Bangalore for 4 integrated programmes will not offer direct admission on the basis of JAM 2020 scores. Candidates wishing to seek admission in these programmes at these two institutes have to fill separate application form at the official website of the respective institutes based on their JAM scores. Such candidates do not need to participate in JAM counselling for these programmes.

No, your marks in 10+2 or HS is not taken in account for IIT JAM eligibility
To be eligible for IIT JAM examination for MSc physics you need to hace studied Physics for at least two years or four semesters and Mathematics for at least one year or two semesters in your graduation and must have got at least 55% or 5.5 CGPA in your graduation if you belong to general or obc category and at least 50% or 5 CGPA in your graduation if you belong to Sc or St category. So if you fulfill this criteria then you are eligible for IIT JAM for Msc physics

Can a bsc general degree student gives IIT jam mathematics exam.
To be eligible for IIT JAM examination for MSc mathematics one must have Mathematics for at least two years/four semesters in graduation
and must have got at least 55% aggregate scored in your graduation or 5.5 CGPA if you belong to general / obc category . If you belong to sc or st category then you must have got at least 50% aggregate scored in your graduation or 5 CGPA.
If you fulfill this criteria then you are eligible for IIT JAM examination for msc mathematics.
