CUET UG 2025 Mode of Examination

The NTA will conduct the CUET 2025 exam in hybrid mode. The CUET exam will be held in offline mode for subjects with highest registrations. For subjects with less number of registrations, the CUET UG exam will be held in Computer Based Type (CBT) mode.

CUET 2025 Exam Pattern - Section Wise

CUET 2025 will be conducted in an online mode as a computer based test-CBT. The question paper of CUET 2025 exam will consist of multiple choice question type only. The CUET exam will consist of four sections - Section IA, Section IB, Section II and Section III.

1. In Section IA, 13 languages will be included: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odiya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi, and Urdu.

2. Section IB will include the 20 languages: French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese and Sanskrit.

3. In Section II, candidates may choose up to six subjects out of a total of 27 Subjects.

4. Section III involves the General Test.

5. The CUET entrance test 2025 will be administered in three time slots. The first and second slots will both have a duration of 120 minutes, while the third slot will have a duration of 180 minutes for the CUET UG exam.

A candidate may choose up to 3 languages from both Section IA and Section IB, one of which must be in lieu of the domain-specific subjects. Candidates should take into consideration the requirements of their chosen university when selecting the languages (maximum of 3) from Sections IA and IB, and up to six subjects from Section II and the general test under Section III.

CUET Exam Pattern 2025: Is CUET MCQ Based?

The Common University Examination Test (CUET) is a yearly assessment administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for undergraduate (UG) programmes. The CUET undergraduate exam will be composed of four sections, each worth 200 marks. The question paper of CUET examination will be in English and will be presented as Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The CUET total marks per subject is 200 marks.

CUET Exam Pattern 2025 - Key Points

The CUET 2025 examination will be divided into three slots, held on different days, based on the subjects chosen by the candidates. The total marks of CUET exam is 800.

1. In Slot 1, which takes place in the morning, candidates can take up to four tests. These tests include one language from Section IA, a maximum of two domain-specific subjects from Section II, and one general test from Section III.

2. Slot 2 of the CUET 2025 exam will be held in the afternoon, allowing candidates to take a maximum of five tests. They can choose from the following options:

• One language from Sections IA & IB and up to four domain-specific subjects from Section II

• Two languages from Sections IA and IB and up to three domain-specific subjects from Section II

3. Lastly, Slot 3 of the CUET is scheduled for the evening shift.

Candidates have the option to select a maximum of 3 languages from Sections IA and IB combined. It is mandatory for one of the chosen languages to be a domain-specific language. Additionally, in Section II, candidates can choose a maximum of 6 subjects out of the 27 available options. The General Test is part of Section III.

To adhere to the recent changes, candidates can take a maximum of 10 tests in the following way:

• Option 1:

  • Choose a maximum of 2 languages from Section IA and Section IB combined.

  • Select a maximum of 6 domain subjects from Section II.

  • Take the general test from Section III.

• Option 2:

  • Choose a maximum of 3 languages from Section IA and Section IB combined.

  • Select a maximum of 5 domain subjects from Section II.

  • Take the general test from Section III.

It is essential for candidates to refer to the requirements of their intended university when selecting languages (up to 3) from Sections IA and IB, as well as a maximum of 6 subjects from Section II and the General Test under Section III. The maximum marks per subject in CUET will be 200. In order to pass the examination, candidates must achieve at least the minimum number of marks out of the total CUET full marks. Students preparing for the Commerce exam must go through the CUET exam pattern for Commerce students. Similarly, aspirants of the Science students are advised to go through the CUET paper pattern for Science students.

• CUET Total Marks for 3 Subjects - the total marks of individual subject is 200 marks. For every correct answer, 5 marks will be awarded.
• CUET Total Marks for 5 Subjects - the CUET UG total marks is 800 marks.

CUET Negative Marking 2025

CUET 2025 Exam Day Guidelines – Things to Keep in Mind

1. Make sure to reach the CUET exam centre at least 1.30 to 2 hours before the exam starts. Do not underestimate the importance of time and avoid taking unnecessary risks. Expect the unexpected on the day of the exam, such as traffic jams, road closures, heavy rain, or unexpected bad weather, as well as potential transportation delays. It is crucial to remember that in most cases, you will not be allowed to enter the exam venue if you arrive within 30 minutes before the exam begins, as the gates close early for other formalities.

2. Prioritise double-checking all the required documents on the exam day. Make sure you have your hard copy of the CUET admit card and a valid photo ID authorized by the examination board. Failure to carry these essential items will not be tolerated.

3. Ensure you get a good night's sleep before the exam to avoid any delays in waking up on time. Rest well and be fully prepared for the examination day.

4. Keep in mind that there is negative marking in the CUET UG Total Marks; therefore, exercise extreme caution and avoid answering any question incorrectly.
