After the result declaration of DUET 2020, the authority will release the DU admission list 1, 2 and 3. Besides knowing the admission list, candidates also have to be aware that there are two modes of admission at the University of Delhi. There are two modes of DU admissions – merit based (for DU students only) and entrance test based. Check details below.
Mode of Admission and Seat Availability
Except inter-disciplinary or professional courses, for rest all PG programmes, there are two modes of admission:
Mode 1 - MERIT BASED Admission: 50 percent of the total seats are offered based on the merit of the candidates in the qualifying examination. Merit based admission can be availed only by those candidates who have eligible bachelor degree from the University of Delhi.
Mode 2 - ENTRANCE TEST BASED: The rest 50 percent of the seats are offered on the basis of ranks of the candidates in entrance test and Interview/Group Discussion, if any.
All candidates seeking admission to Postgraduate programmes have to register online, irrespective of the mode of admission. They have to choose one option from the three given below while registering for DUET:
1. Merit Based Only
2. Entrance Test Based Only
3. Both Merit And Entrance Test Based
The authority will release separate Admission Lists for both modes. The merit list of DU PG admissions is released separately online as per the different programmes. Having their names in the merit list or having a rank in the merit list reflects that the candidates are eligible to participate in the admission process further. Reservation/concession, as per the existing rules of the University of Delhi, will be applicable separately in both the modes (merit and entrance test). Courses where Interview/Group Discussion (GD) after the test is held, the admission list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks. Allotment of colleges and courses in the admission list is done based on MERIT-CUM-PREFERENCE/RANK-CUM-PREFERENCE and the availability of seats in the respective departments/colleges. For the merit based mode, the ranks or the merit list will be prepared based on the qualifying marks of the candidates.
Selected candidates have to login to the PG Admission Portal and download the Admission Form, and take printouts. Name in the admission list alone does not mean that a candidate has got admission. Candidates, selected as per the merit cum admission list have to further appear for document verification and pay the admission fee online, by or before the last date. Venue details of the designated Reporting Centre (Faculty/Department/Centre/Colleges), where the selected candidates will first report, and place of admission (Department/Centre/College), where the applicant will be admitted, will be mentioned on the admission form. They have to report at the designated Reporting Centre, along with their admission form and the required documents (original and two sets of photocopies) mentioned in the list, for verification. After successful verification only, they will be considered for the admission.
There are two types of cut off when it comes to DU PG admission – qualifying cut off and the entrance test cut off. DU PG cut off is released separately for the candidates who opt for merit based admission and for those who seek admission via entrance test mode. Candidates seeking DU PG admissions, have to secure marks equal to or more than the DUET qualifying cut off marks 2020 and the final entrance test marks. For merit based admissions channel, only qualifying marks or CGPA will be there in the admission list, as DUET cutoff. While for entrance based admission, the cut off will be released in the form of qualifying marks/CGPA and entrance test marks. The cut off DU PG 2020 will be released as per the different admission list rounds. There may be 5-6 admission lists for DU cut off.
The result of DU PG 2020 is expected to be out by the third week of July 2020.

There is no test for such candidates, as they will have to apply for admission based on their qualifying exam marks. However, other than such candidates, for the rest 50 percent seats, the admission is through entrance test.
The merit list of DU PG 2020 is expected to be declared by the last week of July. The merit cum admission list of DUET is released at the same time. It is released category and subject-wise separately. Also, the DU PG merit list may be released in 5 rounds till the last week of August.
The authority may start releasing the admission list of DU PG from the last week of July 2020. However, five admission lists are expected to be out. The last or fifth DU PG 2020 admission list may be out by the last week of August. There will be separate merit lists for entrance exam, merit based and for entrance and merit based admission.

Instead of focusing on a particular type of mathematics such as algebra or calculus, a postgraduate degree MSc in Mathematics allows students to concentrate on number theory and advanced mathematical methods that tie together all the different forms of mathematics they have likely already learned. One can learn abstract concepts used in modern mathematics, and develop the ability to grasp their underlying truths.
