JAM CounsellingJAM Counselling 2018 – IIT Bombay will begin conducting the JAM 2018 counselling for the qualified candidates on April 3, 2018. Candidates who appear for JAM 2018 and qualify in it should begin to fill their application form and appear for counselling of JAM 2018. During JAM counselling 2018, candidates would be required to submit their final documents after making the necessary rectifications. These submissions should be done before the last date of JAM 2018 counselling. After all the documents have been submitted, IIT-B will release its first admission list on May 22, 2018. The allotment of seats after the announcement of the first list depends on the choice of institute filled by candidates and their scores. Subsequently, IIT-B will release its second and third admission lists to fill the vacant seats in various M.Sc and Ph.D programmes offered by IITs and IISc Bangalore. The announcement of admission lists and filling of seats will follow the counselling process of JAM 2018 done by IIT Bombay. The process of JAM counselling will end on April 17, 2018. JAM Counselling Schedule 2018


Candidates are to participate in JAM counselling 2018 and seat allotment process, after qualifying the JAM 2018 examination. Given below is the counselling schedule for JAM 2018 along with important dates and events:

  • Candidates can fill the JAM Admission Form 2018 between April 3 and April 17, 2018, through the official online application link.

  • Candidates can get their defective documents rectified and upload them by April 17, 2018, for JAM 2018 counselling process.

  • Post JAM counselling 2018 process,  IIT Bombay will be announcing the first admission list for JAM 2018 on May 22, 2018, based on which candidates will be offered seats and can apply to their respective IITs.

  • Subsequently, IIT Bombay will announce the second admission list for June 12, 2018, for admissions by various candidates who wish to apply to their respective IITs and IISc Bangalore.

  • JAM 2018 round 3 counselling, The third and final admission list for admissions will be announced on June 29, 2018, based on which candidates will be offered the remaining seats and apply to their respective IITs.

Instructions for JAM 2018 Counselling Process

  • Candidates who qualify in JAM 2018 and hold valid JAM scores are eligible to apply for JAM counselling 2018 and admission process.

  • The JAM admission form has to be filled online between the scheduled dates i.e between April 3-17, 2018.

  • Candidates need to go through any additional requirements including suitability test and interview for JAM 2018 counselling.

  • The candidates also need to pay the fee for JAM 2018 admission form which can be remitted online only.

  • Candidates will be intimated about the offered seats by email at registered mail address/ SMS at registered mobile number/ official website.

  • Candidates have the right to either accept or reject the offered seats. This can be done using the online mode only.

  • Candidates also need to bring JAM admit card 2018 during reporting and attending admission formalities at the concerned IIT.

  • Upon acceptance of the offered seats, the candidates need to pay the seat booking fee online.

  • Candidates need to note that admission counselling of JAM 2018 for institutions other than the IITs, including IISERs, NITs and CFTIs will be held through CCMN 2018.

JAM Admission Form 2018


Candidates who qualify in the JAM 2018 examination administered by IIT Bombay can apply for M.Sc programmes at the IITs participating in JAM examination. The application form for JAM 2018 admissions will be available online from April 3-17, 2018 on the official website. Candidates can go through the application process of JAM 2018 admissions as mentioned below–

  • Candidates must read and go through the number of seats offered by the IITs for the postgraduate M.Sc and Ph.D. programmes.

  • They also need to create a choice list before filling JAM admission form 2018.

  • Also, the important documents need to be kept ready before beginning JAM 2018 admission process.

  • Candidates should make a note that they need to fill only one JAM 2018 admission form mentioning all the programmes and IITs in the order of preference, irrespective of the number of qualifying papers (one or two).

  • Candidates must note that the JAM admission form if found incomplete, or without the requisite documents, will be rejected.

  • They are required to pay an application fee for JAM admissions 2018 through online mode using credit/debit card/net banking.

JAM 2018 admission form fees


The application fee amount for admission for various M.Sc and Ph.D. courses in IITs and IISc Bangalore for the qualifying candidates is Rs. 600. This fee remains the same for all categories i.e General, OBC, ST, SC and physically handicapped too.


JAM Counselling Process 2018

  • Candidates will be considered for JAM admissions 2018 only to those programmes as mentioned in the admission form of JAM 2018.

  • IIT Bombay will be declaring First Admission List for JAM 2018 on May 22, mentioning the name of candidates considering the order of preference and their corresponding rank.

  • Candidates who have been offered seats through JAM 2018 counselling need to log in through their registered id and select one from the three options–Accept and Freeze, Accept with Upgrade, and Reject and Quit.

  • Candidates going for Accept and Freeze, and Accept with Upgrade options will need to pay the ‘Seat Booking Fee’ of the requisite amount through online payment modes using Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking.

  • However, candidates opting for Reject and Quit option will receive an OTP (One Time Password) on their registered mobile number and email address, which further should be entered on the online system to reject the offered seat during JAM counselling 2018.

  • With the remaining vacant seats after the first round of JAM 2018 counselling, the IIT Bombay will announce the second admission list for JAM 2018.

  • Similarly, the candidates offered admissions after the second round of JAM counselling 2018, need to choose one of the three options–Accept and Freeze, Accept with Upgrade, and Reject and Quit and pay the Seat Booking Fees if accepted the offered seat.

  • The candidates offered a seat of higher preference as per the second admission list of JAM 2018 need to choose one of those three options, but need not pay the Seat Booking Fees again.

  • The candidates who have been offered seats can cancel and choose to withdraw. If a candidate chooses to withdraw, an amount of Rs. 1000 will be deducted from their Seat Booking Fee and the final amount will be refunded.

  • The IIT Bombay will publish the third and final seat allotment list for JAM 2018 admissions on June 29, 2018.

  • The candidates who have been offered a seat need to report to the allotted IIT along with the documents required for eligibility verification, based on their seat offer letter.

  • In case of a failure to accept the admission offer, he/ she will not be considered further for JAM 2018 admission process.

  • The counselling-cum-admission process closes with the publication of third and final seat allotment list of JAM 2018.
