    The IIT JAM examination is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to over 3000 seats across 90 postgraduate programmes at 21 IITs.     Key Information On IIT JAM 2026 Exam

    The JAM 2026 was held on February 15. The JAM admit card link was already activated on the JOAPs portal.     What is IIT JAM 2026?

    IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission into various postgraduate (PG) science programmes like M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech., etc. at the IITs and Integrated PhD degree programmes offered at IISc Bangalore.     • Candidates should pass the qualifying exam with 55% aggregate or 5.5 out of 10 CGPA .

    • In case, when a candidate is promoted in the qualifying exam without a marksheet, he/she must have the promotion certificate or another certificate or document as evidence for promotion including the names of the taken subjects and marks scored in the subjects by him/her in the semester/year.

    • The promotion certificate or document should be signed by the head of the institute to provide evidence for the minimum educational requirements (MEQ).

    SC/ST/PWD

    • Candidates should pass the qualifying exam with 50% aggregate or 5 out of 10 CGPA.

    • In case, when a candidate is promoted in the qualifying exam without a marksheet, he/she must have the promotion certificate or another certificate or document as evidence for promotion including the names of the taken subjects and marks scored in the subjects by him/her in the semester/year.

    • The promotion certificate or document should be signed by the head of the institute to provide evidence for the minimum educational requirements (MEQ).

    But if you do not submit a valid EWS certificate , then:

    • Your EWS category benefit will be cancelled .

    • Your result may be treated as General category .

    If your IIT JAM status shows “Under Scrutiny: Defect Rectification Done”, it means your correction is submitted and under review. Keep checking your portal, once verified, it’ll change to “Accepted” or “Found Defective.” Updates usually appear within 2–3 days before the portal closes.

    For IIT JAM BIOTECHNOLOGY EXAMINATION the 4 subjects are PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, MATHEMATICS AND BIOLOGY and the candidate must be graduated with other criteria. Nowhere in the eligibilities it is needed to have mathematics in +2 level.
