Candidates appearing for the IIT JAM 2026 entrance exam must follow the exam day guidelines at the test centres set by the IIT Bombay. The IIT JAM exam 2026 will be held on February 15 in CBT mode. Students can also check the JAM exam day schedule and instructions on their admit cards.

The institute will conduct the IIT JAM exam 2026 for a total of 180 minutes (3 hours) duration. The JAM exam will be held in two shifts. Students are advised to arrive at the IIT JAM exam centre 2026 30 minutes prior to the entry gate time. The officials will begin the document verification and security check before allowing students to enter the exam hall.
Candidates must carry their admit cards, photo ID and Aadhar card to the test centres. Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, smart watches, etc are not allowed to the exam hall. In order to appear for the JAM exam smoothly, students are advised to avoid cheating or participate in any form of malpractise.
Students appearing for the IIT JAM exam 2026 must wear their outfit according to the dress code given by the university. Candidates should wear comfortable and light clothing, and open foot wear like sandals or slippers. Wearing any metal items, heavy embroideries, and shoes are not allowed inside the exam hall.

Given below are the IIT JAM exam day guidelines which candidates should be aware of before appearing for the entrance test.
Before leaving the home to appear for the exam, candidates should make sure that they have all the mandatory documents like admit card and ID proof.
Candidates are advised to reach the exam centre 1-2 hours before the entrance exam begins. It must also be noted that they will not be allowed to enter the IIT JAM exam centre 30 minutes prior to the exam commencement.
Candidates with benchmark disability (PwD) will be provided compensatory time of one hour for the exam.
Candidates should be very careful while attempting any answer as there is negative marking in the JAM.
They have to paste a recent photograph of themselves on the JAM admit card.
Without the admit card, candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination centre.
Candidates should carry as few things as possible as most of the items are not allowed inside the exam centre.

Footwear such as shoes may be required to be taken off outside the hall at times.

Your EWS category benefit will be cancelled .
