DU Merit List Tie-Breaking Policy

If more than two candidates have the same DU merit list CUET score, then the rules for breaking the tie are as follows:

• Candidate with the highest percentage of total marks in the best 3 subjects of Class 12.

• Candidate with the highest percentage of overall marks in the best 4 subjects of class 12.

• Candidate with a higher percentage of total marks of Class 12 Best 5 subjects.

• Candidate with earlier date of birth as mentioned in Class 10 certificate.

DU Seats 2024

Here are the details candidates need to know about DU seats:

• Through merit-based admissions, 64 DU colleges are offering 69,554 seats.

• There are 3291 seats reserved for ECA and sports quotas, of which 2075 are for sports quota and 1216 are for ECA. These seats, however, are supernumerary.

• DU has 91 colleges in total, but only 64 offer merit-based admissions to eligible students.

• There are 85 percent Delhi University seats reserved for Delhi candidates, while 15 percent are for candidates from outside Delhi.

• In 2020, as a one-time measure, DU colleges had offered 5 additional seats to the COVID-19 affected wards/students.

DU 2024 Seat Allotment: Key highlights

• DU college admissions will be conducted in three rounds of counselling, followed by a spot round.

• The remaining DU seats will be allocated through normal counseling.

• Candidates with a certain percentage in the qualifying exam can receive a 3% relaxation in DU cut off marks. For instance, candidates with 60% or above percentage in Maths in the qualifying exam are given 3% relaxation in cut off marks.

• The CUET scores will be given 100% weightage by all colleges including minority colleges like St. Stephen's College and Jesus & Mary College.

DU Merit List 2024 calculation

Program-specific merit scores are calculated by the university according to eligibility criteria, and candidates must confirm their scores before making preferences. The candidate must select as many Programs he/she wishes to and it is in the best interest of the candidate to choose maximum Programmes and Programme + College Combinations Delhi University will calculate the DU merit list on the basis of three lists - List A, list B1 or B2.
