The DU preference list is where students submit their priorities in terms of colleges and courses. There are a total of 85,000 seats available in Delhi University, for all categories combined. Students can choose their preferences during the DU CSAS registration 2026.

The DU preference list is the subject and college choices made by the candidates. Based on the subject chosen by the candidates, they are required to fill the college preference. In order to fill the college preference, one is also required to list colleges according to the ranking. It must be noted that a list will be prepared concerning the CUET scores. One who scores high will definitely opt for the topmost colleges of the Delhi University.
There are various platforms which make the subject wise preference list for the convenience of the candidates. Candidates may take the help of those lists. Instead one can also make their own preference list based on the subject choices. Here are the steps that one needs to follow while making their own preference list.
Step 1: Make a list of courses in which you want to pursue a UG degree. It is advisable to give priority to the subject rather than the colleges.
Step 2: You can fill as much college as you want. There are no restrictions to fill the number of colleges.
Step 3: Use the ‘Upgrade’ option to upgrade your college preference. It will help you to take admission in a better college. The ‘Upgradation’ option is available till the seats are fulfilled.
The DU preference list is important because of certain criteria.
The more combinations you include, the higher your chance of getting some seats.
By the preference list you can sort your preferred colleges based on the courses.
If you get a seat in Round 1 but have higher-ranked options above it, you can upgrade in Round 2 if those become available.

The DU preference list is filled through the DU website at ugadmissiogn.uod.ac.in. Those candidates who filled the DU phase 1 form are only eligible to fill the phase 2 form. It can be filled through the simple and easy steps.
Visit the DU website.
Click on the ‘Login’ button.
Enter your CUET application number and DU created password.
Click on the ‘Phase 2 Registration’ tab.
Choose your subjects based on class 12.
Then choose the DU colleges according to your preference.
The list of colleges is appeared according to your subject preferences.
Submit all the preferred choices by clicking on the ‘Save’ button.
Your form will be generated and must take print of the phase 2 registration form.
Note- Candidates who have taken the CUET 2026 and filled the DU phase 1 registration form successfully are only eligible to apply for the phase 2 i.e., college and course preference filling.
