University of Mumbai, informally known as Mumbai University, was established in 1857 making it one of the three very first universities of India. It has now more than 780 colleges affiliated to it, offering over 140 programmes.
One of the most popular programmes is the Bachelors of Commerce (BCom), for which admission is the basis of the Class 12 board exam scores. The aggregate percentages achieved by the students in the higher secondary board exam are compared to draw up the merit lists which are also based on the number of seats available. Students have to register for admission first. If seats remain vacant, colleges issue further merit lists of students in line for admission as per the vacancy.
Careers360 gathered data from third merit list data for some of the Mumbai colleges to get a sense of the minimum scores required for BCom admission, or the cut-off for BCom in 2021 admission.

The cutoffs in the table below are the lowest marks at which a student was admitted in a programme at a college in the third merit list. Colleges release merit lists with names of students eligible for admission and the scores they have obtained in Class 12 against them. Some of the institutions listed are “autonomous colleges”, meaning they decide on their curriculum and evaluate students independently.

Some Mumbai University colleges also offer a “specialised BCom” which focuses on and develops expertise in specific areas such as Economics, Accountancy, Law or Finance.
