How Many Students Enrolled in IGNOU Admission: Indira Gandhi National Open University has recorded the second highest registrations of all time in 2023-24. A total of 7.53 lakh students registered themselves for various programmes, as per the report by The Indian Express. The highest registrations ever were recorded in 2019-20.

The university is ranked as no. 1 open university in India based on the NIRF 2024 rankings. The university has two admission cycles (January and July) in an academic year, unlike one admission cycle in the regular universities across India. IGNOU offers admissions for various programmes like certificate, diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels.
The university offers admissions twice in a year for new candidates through the IGNOU registration process. Candidates can know about the number of students enrolled for admissions in IGNOU from this article.
The number of students enrolled in undergraduate programmes has been reduced from 3.89 lakhs (2019-20) to 3.52 lakhs (2023-24). The highest number of registrations are recorded for Bachelor of Arts (BAG) - 1.09 lakhs. Whereas, 21,092 students have enrolled for the Bachelor of Commerce programme, 19,248 students have registered for BA(Hons) History, and 16,093 students have registered for Bachelor of Science (BSCG) programme.
For PG programmes, the number of enrollments increased to 3.02 lakh as compared to 2.58 lakh enrollments in 2022-23. Among the 3.02 lakh enrollments, MA Political Science has recorded a total of 25,878 students. For MA English, the number of students registered are 20,424, and 16,986 enrollments for MA History.
