Courses Offered by NISER Through NEST 2026: Programmes, Fees, Eligibility & Duration

Academic Subjects

Candidates must have studied at least three out of these four subjects in classes XI and XII: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

Qualifying Year

Candidates must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2024 or 2025, or be appearing for it in 2026.

Minimum Marks

General / OBC: At least 60% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade).

SC / ST / Divyangjan: At least 55% aggregate marks.

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam or for admission.

Merit Rank

Admission is strictly based on securing a rank in the NEST 2026 merit list.

Board Requirements

The aggregate marks must be from a single recognized Board (provisional certificates are accepted for 2026 appearing students).

Total Standard Seats

200 seats (includes reservations for SC/ST/OBC/Divyangjan per government norms).

Supernumerary Seats

02 additional seats reserved specifically for eligible candidates from J&K and Ladakh.

OBC-NCL Requirement

Candidates must produce a valid category certificate exactly on the date of admission if offered a seat under this category.
