NTA has been caught in yet another controversy after NEET and CUET UG exam this year. This time, NTA is being accused of conducting the CUET PG 2026 exam in multiple shifts without announcing the schedule on its website. According to the date sheet available on the NTA’s website, the CUET PG exam 2026 was scheduled to be held for a total of 4,11,366 students from March 6 to 27.
NTA released the city allotment slips and admit cards for CUET PG exam held on the above mentioned dates. However, when the agency released the final answer keys and scorecards for the students, it came to know that the exams were also held on March 29 and 30 for several domestic and international students. That being said, there was no information about the extended exam dates of CUET PG 2026 for subjects like Economics, General Test, History, Political Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, and more. This raises concerns about the fairness of the exam as students are getting as good as full marks in subjects like political science, which is very unlikely. Two students are getting 290 marks out of 300, whereas the 2024 topper obtained only 270 marks for the same subject. The CUET PG 2025 topper list was not announced by the NTA.
The NTA has not released any datesheet, or any notice regarding the March 29 and 30 exams on the official website. However, the agency has released final answer keys for exams held in multiple shifts on March 29 and 30. The following list of subjects were held in multiple shifts.
Exams Held on March 29 - Statistics, BEd, BEd Humanities and Social Sciences, General Test, General Management, Library and Information Science, Mass Communication and Journalism, Public Health, Anthropology, Applied Arts, History, Psychology, English, Chemical Engineering, and Data Science
Exams Held on March 30 - Commerce, Economics, Political Science, and Sociology
The agency conducts the CUET PG exam for registered candidates by releasing admit cards with exam date, time and address of the exam centre. A public notice is issued by the NTA for the release of admit cards every year. However, the NTA has not issued any notice for the eams held on March 29 and 30. There is no clue as to who appeared for the CUET PG exam held on the above mentioned dates.
The CUET PG result is calculated based on the normalisation process for students appearing in multiple shifts on multiple days. However, the CUET PG exam was held in a single shift according to the datesheet. But the agency announced answer keys and results for exams held in multiple shifts, March 29 and 30. This means, CUET PG 2026 exams were held in two shifts for some subjects. So, to make it fair for the students, NTA should ideally release the normalized score for the students who appeared for subjects with multiple shifts.
Percentile scores are scores based on the relative performance of all those who appear for the examination. Basically, the marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees.
The Percentile score of a Candidate is calculated as follows:
100 X Number of candidates appeared in the ‘Session’ with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate.
In subjects like Political Science, General Test and Health Care & Hospital Management, the toppers have scored full marks (300 out of 300). This was never the case earlier. There is a growing fear over higher CUET PG cut off among students this year. For students belonging to humanities and social sciences background, JNU is a dream college to pursue higher studies. Last year, the JNU cut off for Political Science was 249. In the year 2024, the JNU cut off for Political Science was 252 marks and the toppers scored 270 marks. So, if this year the topper is scoring full marks, then the competition is obviously going to become more tougher. Same is the case with other courses and colleges associated with CUET PG admission process.
