    Candidates appearing for the PU CET 2026 entrance test must be aware of the PU marking scheme. Candidates are advised to note that it is required to obtain at least 35% marks to get the passing marks out of 45 in Panjab University. The PU total marks is 120 for UG exams and 75 marks for courses such as PG and B.P.Ed.

    Panjab University Syllabus 2026 - M.A. History

    • The question paper for M.A. History entrance test will consist of three units. Candidates have to answer all the questions from each of these three units.

    • The unit 1 of the question papers will include eight concept-based questions. Candidates have to attempt the first question to proceed to the others. Generally, candidates need to answer at least five questions out of the eight questions in total. They should try to answer each question in 80-100 words. Each question carries five marks and the first question in particular carries 25 marks (in total).

    • The unit 2 of the question papers will consist of descriptive pattern questions. There are a total of four essay type questions. Candidates have to attempt just one question from the four given questions. Each question will carry 25 marks. They will have to answer the question in 1000 words. Candidates can take a look into the areas they will be assessed in, from this unit.

    1. Note, questions will be from B.A. (General) History syllabus.

    2. There will be at least one question from Ancient, Medieval, History of Punjab, and Modern Indian History.

    • The unit 3 of the question paper will include questions from comprehension and communication skills. Here, candidates are required to attempt one question from the two questions. Each question will carry 25 and the word limit to answer the question in this unit is 1000.

    Passing Marks in Panjab University

    Candidates appearing for the PUCET entrance test must be aware of the PU passing marks. All the aspirants of PU entrance exam must know passing marks out of 80 in Panjab university to be 40% in each written and practical paper, each subject requires a minimum of 50% in class assessment and 45% in aggregate of all the subjects. The Punjab University passing marks out of 100 are distributed in a way where a candidate qualifies if they obtain a minimum of 35% marks in written test.

    For UG courses, passing marks out of 90 in PU is awarded when a candidate obtains 35% marks in theory exam and 20% marks in internal exam.

    PUCET 2026 Exam Day Instructions

    Candidates attending the PU CET 2026 entrance test must adhere to exam day guidelines to avoid any last-minute confusion, misses and hassles. Given below are a few of the general PU CET 2026 exam day instructions and guidelines.

    • Candidates are advised to reach the examination centre a few minutes prior to the examination commencing.

    • They would be given separate question-and-answer booklets which at the end of the exam test-takers need to submit to the exam invigilator.

    • The medium of the PUCET entrance examination is English. However, candidates attending the M.A. History entrance examination will be given the option to answer the questions in Hindi, English, or Punjabi.

    • Candidates must not separate any page or part of the question paper or the answer/OMR sheet from the stapled bunch. It may lead to disqualification of candidature

    • Aspirants can use the empty space for rough work.

    • Candidates are provided with an OMR sheet for exams that are MCQ based. Do not rush on to answer the question paper without reading the instructions carefully provided on the OMR sheet.

    • Candidates need to darken the ovals against the answer options. Any answer which is half-darkened or if candidates darken two ovals instead of one will be taken as an incorrect answer.

    • Candidates cannot leave the examination hall before the time of the test ends.

    • They have to bring the admit card and a valid id proof for the PUCET 2026 exam to the test centre. In case of UG entrance test, 20 minutes extra time will be allotted to the visually handicapped/PWD candidates. For the PG entrance test, candidates will be given 30 minutes extra time.

    • Candidates will not be allowed to carry a calculator, mobile phone, Fitbits or any other electronic gadgets inside the exam centre. Candidates will be provided with log tables on exam day.

    • Candidates need to mark answers on the OMR sheets only.

    • They should not scribble anything on the OMR sheet and the admit card. They need to write down the roll numbers in the relevant empty field of the question-and-answer booklets.

    • Candidates will be allowed to use only black ball/gel pens on the test day. They need to carry their individual stationery items.
