MGM University-MAHAGAMI invite applications for classical arts and Indology courses

MGM University, Maharashtra is offering admission to various UG, PG, Diploma and certificate courses in Indology and classical arts courses such as Kathak, Odissi and Musicology in collaboration with MAHAGAMI (Mahatma Gandhi Mission Sangeet Academy) GURUKUL. The programmes are specifically designed for the students who are enthusiastic about classical arts and culture. Besides this, the university is also inviting applications for certificate and diploma programmes in Dhrupad, Manipuri, Natya Shastra, Music, Indian Theatre Arts, Spoken Sanskrit and Dance Appreciation.

The admissions to these programmes will be done directly based on the merit. The programmes are offered in both full time and part time mode.

For admissions to BPA in Kathahak and BPA Odissi, the candidates must have passed Class 12 examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate. The candidates must have done training in the chosen dance form for a minimum of five years. Those students who are pursuing UDBHAV of MAHAGAMI GURUKUL or MADHYAMA of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya or equivalent are also eligible for the bachelor’s programme.The candidates who wish to pursue MPA in Kathak or MPA in Odissi should have at least 6-7 years training and stage experience in the chosen dance genre. They should also have passed bachelor's programme with a minimum of 50% marks. The duration of MPA is three years, including one year bridge course.

For diploma programmes, the students must have done 4 years training in the chosen dance or music genre. There is no age limit for applying to the diploma programme in Natyashastra and students from any background can enroll in the course. The applicants must have passed Class 10th and should have good command over any one language (English, Hindi, Marathi) for admission to the certificate foundation programmes.

MAHAGAMI is a 25 years old ISO certified institute in Maharashtra that offers training in Indian classical dances and cultural arts courses in the ancient guru shishya tradition.
