The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is a national-level exam that acts as an entrance test for admission to various undergraduate programmes across a number of central, state, and deemed universities in India. For students aspiring to pursue a B.Com degree, a common query arises: "Is Maths compulsory for B.Com through CUET UG 2025?" For example, if we talk about B.Com honours at Delhi University, maths is compulsory in one subject combination, in the other, students have the option to choose subjects such as accountancy/ book keeping.
In universities like BHU, Allahabad University students can choose relevant domain subjects and general aptitude tests. This article aims to clarify this confusion by analysing the requirements of different universities participating in the CUET exam 2025.

Delhi University: For B.Com (Hons.) At DU, mathematics is not compulsory. Students may choose Maths or Applied Maths along with one language and any two domain subjects or choose accountancy/ book keeping.

However, for the B.Com general programme, maths is not mandatory; students can choose one domain subject and the general aptitude test.

You can check the list of CUET subjects for DU from the link in the description below.

Banaras Hindu University: At BHU, maths is optional for B.Com admissions. Students can opt for other relevant subjects like Accountancy or Business Studies.

Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Bihar: If you choose Mathematics as optional here, you need to have studied Accountancy as a subject in Class 12.

Allahabad University: At Allahabad University B.Com admission Maths is optional, but students must choose domain subjects from the specified list mentioned below.

Even if Maths isn't strictly compulsory for CUET BCom admission, participating universities often consider related subjects like Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics, as these subjects are relevant to the B.Com degree.
The General Aptitude Test in Section 3 also plays an important role. The GAT often includes quantitative aptitude, which involves basic mathematical concepts."
So, even if you don't take Maths as a domain subject, having a strong foundation in quantitative aptitude can be beneficial.
Here are a few tips you can follow to get a better idea about the subjects you can choose for B.Com in the CUET exam.
Check University Requirements: Visit the official websites of your target universities and carefully check their admission criteria.
Focus on Relevant Domain Subjects: Prioritise Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics and other relevant subjects so that you have the option to opt for the most number of universities.
Consider General Aptitude Test: Prepare for the General Aptitude Test as it is accepted by a large number of universities.
Note: Pay close attention to the domain subjects related to commerce like accountancy, Business Studies, Economics and others. Many top CUET participating universities in India accept general aptitude tests as a subject for B.Com admission. Students are advised to choose subjects as per their strength.

Hello,
Yes, you can get a reservation to study B Tech. through cuet exam as per your category. It is partially dependent on the university you will get admission.
Thank You.
The top government colleges offering B.Tech admission through the CUET exam in Delhi primarily include institutions under Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and specific colleges within the University of Delhi (DU).
Here are the key government colleges that accept CUET scores for B.Tech:
Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC), University of Delhi: Offers B.Tech. in Information Technology & Mathematical Innovation, with admission based strictly on CUET scores, and it is known for its low fee structure.
Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi (DU): DU has also started admitting students to its B.Tech programs (like Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.) via the CUET (and usually JEE Main).
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU): While GGSIPU primarily uses JEE Main scores, some of its programs in the main campus and the GGSIPU East Delhi Campus accept CUET scores for admission, particularly for certain specializations.
It is important to check the specific course eligibility for each university, as highly ranked institutions in Delhi like Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) and Delhi Technological University (DTU) rely more heavily on high JEE Main ranks for admission through JAC Delhi counselling, rather than CUET alone.
