CUET Exam Pattern 2025: The UGC chief, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar has announced several changes in CUET 2025 exam pattern. As per the latest CUET UG exam pattern 2025, the exam will now only be conducted in computer based mode. Amongst other CUET exam pattern changes are uniform exam duration of 60 minutes, maximum of 5 subjects selection and test paper decreased to 37 from 63.
Candidates preparing for the Common University Entrance Test are advised to check the CUET 2025 exam pattern before starting their preparation. As per the CUET exam pattern 2025, the question paper will have three sections: language (Section I), one for the relevant subject domain (Section II), and one for general test (Section III). The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be administering the CUET 2025 in thirteen languages: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi and Urdu. The NTA will conduct the CUET 2025 exam in CBT mode. The questions will be multiple choice questions in CUET exam. Candidates have to answer all the questions, there will be no choice in CUET UG 2025 exam..
The question paper of CUET 2025 exam will consist of multiple choice question type only. The CUET exam will consist of four sections - Section IA, Section IB, Section II and Section III.
In Section IA, 13 languages will be included: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi, and Urdu.
In Section II, there are a total of 23 domain specific subjects.

Candidates have the option to select a maximum of 1 languages from Sections IA . It is mandatory for one of the chosen languages to be a domain-specific language. Additionally, in Section II, candidates can choose a maximum of 3 subjects out of the 23 available options. The General Test is part of Section III.
To adhere to the recent changes, candidates can take a maximum of 10 tests in the following way:
Option 1:
Choose a maximum of 1 languages from Section IA .
Select a maximum of 3 domain subjects from Section II.
Take the general test from Section III.
Option 2:
Choose a maximum of 2 languages from Section IA.
Select a maximum of 2 domain subjects from Section II.
Take the general test from Section III.
It is essential for candidates to refer to the requirements of their intended university when selecting languages (up to 1) from Sections IA, as well as a maximum of 3 subjects from Section II and the General Test under Section III. The maximum marks per subject in CUET UG 2025 will be 250. In order to pass the examination, candidates must achieve at least the minimum number of marks out of the total CUET full marks. Students preparing for the Commerce exam must go through the CUET paper pattern 2025 for commerce students. Similarly, aspirants of the science background are advised to go through the CUET paper pattern for Science students.
The CUET 2025 entrance exam will be divided into three slots, held on different days, based on the subjects chosen by the candidates. The total marks of CUET exam is 250.
In Slot 1, which takes place in the morning, candidates can take up to four tests. These tests include one language from Section IA, a maximum of two domain-specific subjects from Section II, and one general test from Section III.
Slot 2 of the CUET 2025 exam will be held in the afternoon, allowing candidates to take a maximum of five tests. They can choose from the following options:
One language from sections IA & IB and up to four domain-specific subjects from section II
Two languages from sections IA and IB and up to three domain-specific subjects from section II
Lastly, Slot 3 of the CUET UG is scheduled for the evening shift.

CUET total marks per subject = 250.
According to the marking scheme, the CUET negative marking is applicable for every incorrect/wrong answer attempted by the candidates. Students will be awarded 5 marks for every correct answer and - 1 mark for every incorrect answer.

Make sure to reach the CUET exam centre at least 1.30 to 2 hours before the exam starts. Do not underestimate the importance of time and avoid taking unnecessary risks. Expect the unexpected on the day of the exam, such as traffic jams, road closures, heavy rain, or unexpected bad weather, as well as potential transportation delays. It is crucial to remember that in most cases, you will not be allowed to enter the exam venue if you arrive within 30 minutes before the exam begins, as the gates close early for other formalities.
Prioritise double-checking all the required documents on the exam day. Make sure you have your hard copy of the CUET admit card and a valid photo ID authorized by the examination board. Failure to carry these essential items will not be tolerated.

Keep in mind that there is negative marking in the CUET UG total marks; therefore, exercise extreme caution and avoid answering any question incorrectly.
