To be eligible for IGNOU BEd 2026 admission, students are required to fulfil both the academic and professional requirements set by the university. Any students who have completed their graduation with 50% marks from a recognised university are eligible to take admission in IGNOU BEd courses. However, students who have completed their graduation in the engineering or technology stream are required to secure 55% marks in their UG course to be eligible for B.Ed admission in IGNOU.

No, students aspiring to take admission in IGNOU B.Ed programmes are not mandatorily required to possess previous teaching experience as a part of the eligibility criteria. Anyone who is a trained in-service teacher in elementary education will be given preference for the IGNOU B.Ed course. Apart from that, applicants who have completed an NCTE-approved teacher education programme in face-to-face mode will also be prioritised at the time of IGNOU B.Ed admission.

The IGNOU provides reservation of seats for SC, ST, EWS, OBC (Non-creamy layer), War widows, Kashmiri migrants, and PwDs as per the GoI rules for admission. There are limited seats reserved for such categories of candidates. The reservation of those categories will be entertained only after the submission of a valid category certificate.
After the entrance, qualified candidates must pay the programme fee to make themselves eligible to attend the class. There will be a limited time given to pay the programme fee. Beyond that time, candidature will be cancelled.
