How to Prepare for CUET Biology

How to Prepare for CUET Biology 2026 in 1 Month

Follow the step-by-step plan given below to prepare for the CUET 2026 Biology exam.

Step 1: Understand the CUET Biology 2026 Syllabus Properly

The first step to start preparing for any exam is to understand its basics, i.e., begin from the syllabus. If candidates go and take a look at the CUET Biology syllabus, they will observe that now 100% of the NCERT Class 12 syllabus is being followed for CUET 2026.

With this in mind and the CUET syllabus for other important exams, we have designed a Venn diagram below. It shows how the Class 12 boards syllabus contains important units and topics of all the competitive exams.

Representation boards of how the Class 12th syllabus sits with major competitive exams

As students can see, the syllabus for JEE/ NEET covers the full NCERT Class 11 and 12 syllabus, while CUET covers only the NCERT Class 12 syllabus. This means that the students preparing for JEE/ NEET will benefit the most in terms of syllabus, unlike students who are only practising for the Class 12 boards.

Taking the syllabus as the first step, we have classified the CBSE, ISC and UP board Class 12 syllabus based on the CUET Syllabus.

Students should take a look at the photo given below. All Class 12th Biology topics that have a green tick (✔️) next to them should be studied for CUET 2026 and are considered in the respective board, whereas the topics with (❌) next to them are not covered and should be studied by the CUET aspirants.

Covered topics in CBSE, ISC and UP board exams based on CUET 2026 Biology syllabus

The above data easily gives an idea of the topics and subtopics that are covered in the CBSE, ISC and UP board exams in comparison to the full NCERT Class 12 syllabus of CUET 2026.

Observations based on CUET Biology Syllabus 2026

Given below are a few of our observations based on the CUET 2026 Biology syllabus comparison -

    • Most of the topics are covered in the ISC and UP board syllabus. However, CBSE students might have to add a few chapters to their preparation plan, such as Reproduction in Organisms, Evolution, Improvement in Food Production, Ecosystem and Environmental Issues.

    • There is also a good chance that fewer MCQs will be asked from these chapters in the CUET 2026.

    • The rest of the chapters are covered in all three boards, so the students can prioritise their CUET preparation time accordingly.

The choice of 10 MCQs in all subjects is provided to help avoid confusion due to the inconsistency in the syllabus. This way, candidates can attempt the maximum MCQs in their exam. However, these choices might also be used in the MCQs from reduced topics, which really leave candidates at a disadvantage, especially CBSE students.

Next, candidates can check the chart below, which provides all the topics or chapters that are important from the perspective of the official NTA CUET Biology mock test. We have also taken some input from the previous year's CUCET papers.

NCERT Class 12th Biology Important Chapters & Topics from the CUET 2026 Perspective

Some important points to consider -

    • Despite being completely deleted from the CBSE Class 12th syllabus, Reproduction in Organisms seems to be an important chapter.

    • Other important chapters for the CUET Biology exam 2026 are Principles of Inheritance and Variation, Organisms and Populations and Biodiversity and Conservation.

    • A few chapters, such as Sexual Reproduction in Flowering Plants, Evolution and Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production, are the least important chapters with only 1 MCQ asked. Evidently, it can be left to revise at the end.

    Step 2: Chapter-wise Revision

To complete the CUET 2026 preparation on time, candidates should create quick time blocks for all the relevant topics. Here is how candidates can do that.

    Chapter-wise Theory

In the short period of a few weeks, candidates cannot revise all the NCERT topics again. So, candidates should make medium-sized revision notes from which they can learn and understand quickly without leaving any important topics. For example, take a look at this photo below from chapter 1 of NCERT Class 12th Biology.

Aspirants should think of them like charts with all the topics and subtopics of a chapter compiled in one place. They may help candidates revise:

    • Topics and sub-topics of all NCERT chapters

    • Important definitions, points and diagrams

    • All concepts on which objective questions can be formed, especially MCQs

    • Steps to solve these MCQs with the help of examples

    Chapter-wise Practice

Candidates must know all the types of MCQs that may appear in the CUET 2026 exam and for that, NTA has released the official CUET mock tests for several domains and language subjects.

A lot of MCQs in the NTA official Biology mock test were of the same pattern as Class 12th board exams, except they were of a medium level similar to the NCERT Exemplar.

So we spent some time analysing the number of questions in the NCERT Class 12th Biology Exemplar.

Important Chapter-wise MCQs from NCERT Class 12th Biology Exemplar

Based on the NTA CUET Biology mock test, a mixture of standalone, match the following, statement-based, choose the correct sequence, and case-based MCQs may be asked in the CUET exam 2026.

Step 3: CUET Mock Test Papers On Exact Pattern

Aspirants should prepare a timetable that allows them to study, solve CUET Biology mock test papers, revise and practice every day. Solving the NTA CUET Biology mock test helps candidates to become familiar with the pattern of the question paper.

For this, students will find the NTA official CUET Biology mock test useful. We also managed to gather all important guidelines about the CUET 2026 exam, including the paper pattern, types of MCQs and general guidelines.

    CUET Previous Years’ Papers

The CUET exam was called CUCET until last to last year. But the major difference between the two is that the CUET comprises only the Class 12 syllabus. To avoid any type of confusion among students, Educart has provided only the Class 12th NCERT MCQs from these papers.

CUET Biology Mock Test Papers (Solved & Unsolved)

This is the final and most important step for CUET aspirants. After all the revisions with theory and CUET previous year papers, candidates must now have gained all the basic information about the NCERT Class 12 Biology Syllabus. All that is left now for students is to practice more and more test papers, self-analyse their mistakes and keep track of time. Candidates can check out the time management table given below:
