Shoolini University - Interview with Pro Chancellor, Vishal Anand on Admission, Placements and More

Shoolini University, Himachal Pradesh is a multidisciplinary private university that offers a variety of courses ranging from undergraduate to doctoral level. It has six faculties, three schools and 225 full-time faculty members with an aim to impart quality education to the students and make 21st century ready. The university has a strongly dedicated placement assistance cell that looks after the job opportunities for the students post completion of the course. Other than that, the university has a collaboration with more than 120 international universities for joint research collaboration and faculty exchange programmes. Careers360 interacted with the pro chancellor of Shoolini University, Vishal Anand and sought his views on the idea behind the establishment of the university, vision, infrastructure, admission process and many other things.

Careers360: Tell us something about the institute. When was it set up and what’s its vision and mission?

Vishal Anand: Established in 2009, Shoolini University is India’s leading new-age research university, matching the world’s best universities in research output. The university has a world-class infrastructure, cutting-edge laboratories, and globally acclaimed faculty. Though young in years, it has already established itself as a “happening” place in the academic world. It aspires to be a top 200 Global University by 2022 through high-impact global research and innovative multidisciplinary education.

Shoolini University’s mission is to provide world-class yet affordable education to the masses of India, especially the lesser-privileged students from small towns and villages, to be honest, and compliant in everything we do, to have a deep impact on our community through research and innovation, and to bring happiness to all our stakeholders. Our researchers work closely with our local community on several critical issues such as cancer, water, food, and technology to help change the lives of people around us.

Careers360: Tell us something about the admission process?

VA: The Shoolini University admission procedure is simple and easy. Candidates can apply application online by filling in their details in an online application form and paying the application fee. Our admission team will then contact the candidates and provide detailed information about the programme they wish to join.

All programmes in the university have different eligibility criteria. Some have exams, others have interviews or regulatory requirements. The online multiple-choice questions based exam is held for a duration of 30 minutes. Once a student clears the entrance exam and fulfils other criteria, the department sends him/her a letter of enrollment and they need to pay the first-semester fee.

The university has the five-storied award-winning Yogananda Library which has featured on the cover of ‘Roof and Façade’ Asia. This one-of-a-kind EBSCO Online library has over one million publications.

There are 104+ fully equipped and advanced laboratories. The state-of-the-art Cancer Research Centre on the campus is equipped with cutting-edge technology to utilise the medicinal wealth of the Himalayas for the treatment of cancer. The university also has the facility of language labs, an amazingly innovative estudios (eco-friendly log huts), eUniv LMS platform (built around cutting-edge AI/ML technologies), an in-house radio and news channel called Radio Shoolini, run by the Department of Journalism and Mass communication

Shoolini University offers several sports facilities including the Milkha Singh Sports Complex for indoor facilities and Yuvraj Singh Stadium for cricket enthusiasts. VA: Shoolini University makes available many internship opportunities for students in the field of sales, marketing, finance, human resource, etc. The university also runs a SPRINT programme every semester to train students and scale up the employability skills for "Best in Class" careers.

VA: The student-driven and proactive placement cell at Shoolini work round-the-clock to provide ample opportunities to students. The highest recorded package is Rs 16 LPA and the average package is Rs 8 LPA. More than 200+ companies visited Shoolini University for campus placements and 2500+ students have been placed so far. Over 55 companies have already offered jobs to more than 200 students and another 43 corporates are engaged in various stages of the hiring process.
