Q: Tell us something about SRM IST, when it was set up, vision and mission.

A: SRM IST is a Deemed to be University, established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and has main campus at Kattankulathur and other campuses are Ramapuram, Vadapalani and Trichy at Chennai.

The SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Delhi-NCR campus was established in the year 1997 and houses over 5,000 students, over 200 faculties and a plethora of visiting faculties from across industries.

A: The SRM IST Ghaziabad campus was established in the year 1997. The campus comprises more than 5,000 students pursuing their careers in the fields of Engineering, Management, Science & Humanities, Pharmacy and Hotel Management. SRM IST Ghaziabad has a huge campus spreading across the 27-acre area. The campus offers various facilities to its students.

Hostel: SRM IST Ghaziabad has a separate hostel for boys and girls which can accommodate more than 1800 students at a time. Hostels at SRM IST Ghaziabad are equipped with all modern facilities and attached mess. SRM IST Ghaziabad facilities like Wi-Fi, a common room with TV & cable facility, room for indoor games and a reading room with a collection of national/international newspapers, and magazines, gym and separate courts for Volleyball, Basket Ball, and Badminton are provided to students living in the hostel.

Peter F Drucker Hall - At SRM there are two auditoriums- one is Peter F Drucker Hall which is also known as mini auditorium and the main auditorium is known as Eswari Auditorium. The Peter F Drucker consists of 150 seats whereas the main auditorium occupies more than 700 people at a time. Both the halls are well-organised in terms of lights and sounds.

Radha Krishnan Hall - At SRM IST, Delhi NCR we have a seminar hall in the name of Dr. Sarvapalli Radha Krishnan with a seating capacity of 60. It is fully air-conditioned and is suitable for international conferences, symposium, meetings and Seminars. The hall is fully equipped with audio-visual devices and screen projectors.

Sports Facilities: The SRM IST Ghaziabad campus has sports facilities for the students as per international standards. The campus has lush green environment and has facilities for indoor and outdoor games and sports.

Gymnasium: The campus has a well-equipped gymnasium to keep students fit and healthy comprising of the latest machines and equipment for the students such as treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical machines, rowing machines and a wide range of Olympic weights and plate-loaded machines.

Q: There is a lot of stress that is being made with regard to interaction with the industry as well as companies that recruit. What are the steps being taken by SRM IST Ghaziabad in this direction?

A: The Department of Career Development Centre (CDC) is preparing the students for the placement drives by conducting aptitude test, group discussion and mock interviews. SRM IST also encourages students to do Industrial Certification Courses and Internships. SRM IST motivates the students, boosts their confidence and counsels them individually. For the students who hesitate to speak or are suffering from glossophobia, the department conducts activities like role play, ice breaker, and extempore for them.

Q: Internships are now mandatory as per AICTE guidelines. Does the institute help the students with this? If yes, how?

A: According to the National Education Policy, Internships are mandatory for students pursuing four years’ undergraduate programme. These internships provide opportunities to the students for active engagement in on-site experiential learning.

The students have the opportunity to avail both on-campus and off-campus internships. The placement office at SRM helps the students by providing a no-objection certificate for the same.
