Careers360: Tell us something about yourself.

Answer: My name is Eshita, and I am a B.Sc Nursing student from Chitkara University, Punjab. I am a very fun-loving, creative, kind-hearted person, and I am very driven towards social service. Hence, I chose nursing as my profession, where I get to fulfill all of it and use my skills for the betterment of mankind. Due to the strict working hours in nursing, this field has also taught me to work under pressure and manage everything on time. Besides this, I am fond of writing a lot, then watching thrillers and mysteries. Music also holds a very big place in my heart; I love to listen to new beats and also enjoy karaoke nights with my family.

Careers360: How did you come to choose your institution/university and what factors were instrumental in your choice?

Answer: There are many colleges in our state and country that offer B.Sc Nursing to students. But when I explored my options for nursing, the major reason I chose Chitkara University was because of the facilities and opportunities provided by the college. The university is well-equipped with all the medical facilities required to train a student as a nurse. All the labs and classrooms are verified by the Indian Nursing Council, which helps enhance the quality of the teaching. Besides this, the environment of the university is also very healthy and positive; all the students follow the rules and regulations; there is zero ragging on campus; and the institution also has many co-curricular activities and clubs for students to participate in and get a break from their monotonous lifestyle. The university is credited with a NAAC A+, which makes it one of the best universities in the country.

Careers360: What were the salient features of your admission process at your institution/university that struck you as unique?

Answer: All the functions and processes flow very smoothly, as everything works in a very systematic order by following a proper channel, from the process of admission until the day a student passes out all the formalities that are done meticulously. I was also guided completely by the staff at every step of my application process. I was assisted from my first inquiry to the completion of my admission form. There was a counselor who helped me and assured me more about the profession I was opting for and the institute I was opting for. There was an interview round as well, which also went well. The staff was very helpful and soft-spoken, which made it very comfortable for me to clarify doubts; therefore, I did not have any friction with my admission process.

Careers360: What is your take on the initial days at your institution/university campus considering that it is the time to build contacts, understand the processes? Could you give details on the support given by the institute?

Answer: I am a social butterfly, therefore I love to meet and interact with new people; hence, I was very excited for my first day at the university. My initial days, as I still remember them, were very energetic and fun-filled. I made friends in classes, in clubs, and on campus. Networking is a major part of college; it helps you bond with people, and friendships last a lifetime. Chitkara in particular provided all the students with a very safe interactive space where we could interact without the fear of any judgments; everyone here shares mutual respect, and there’s no ragging or bullying on campus. Other than this, the university also organises events, competitions, and club events actively, which help us meet new people and grow our circle.

Careers360: Now that you are a part of your institution/university campus, what in your opinion are stand-apart features of the institute that you think are really assets to building a student’s career and future?

Answer: Many features make Chitkara the best university in the country. It provides the students with a hub of opportunities; whether it's academics, co-curricular, or global recognition, they’ve got you covered. The faculty of the institution is highly skilled and competent; hence, it modifies students’ behaviour holistically. Students are being guided at every step of their degree, as we will be the foundation of the future. There are a series of practice tests, mock tests, practice rounds, and doubt sessions conducted for every stream in which students get to enhance their skills and be better. The university provides all the necessary equipment to the students, which helps in developing practical knowledge and preparing them for the future.

Careers360: Could you give details on the industry connection that is inbuilt with the course at Chitkara University and its advantages?

Answer: Chitkara has a vast range of networks and tie-ups with numerous industries, be it domestic or international, and there is an intensive focus on getting every student industry ready. With more than 1500 recruiters visiting our campus every year, our graduates have the support, resources, and facilities they need in a constantly changing world and job market and are in tune with the changing trends of their respective industries. Careers360: How advantageous in your opinion is your institution/university alumni network connection and in which ways?

Answer: Chitkara has its students placed in different national and international settings and, hence, has a very strong alumni network. Alumni students visit the university and help and guide the university students to master their skills and also choose the right path in their respective careers. We have interactive seminars with them. They also come along with the companies to give placements to the students. They are a great point of reference, too.

Careers360: Internships are an integral part of any student’s life. Please talk about the internship process at your institution/university and how they lead to students being placement ready.

Answer: An internship is a period where the student gets to master the skills they’ve been learning in real-world settings. Chitkara University provides internships for all streams. The process of internships varies from department to department, but as far as the nursing department is concerned, we have our internships for every subject separately at separate hospitals. The internship is planned by the respective subject teachers, and the clinical hours are completed as planned. Placement, for instance, happens with different companies when they come to campus. There are placement drives on campus, for which interested students apply. The preparations for it are done by the faculty through mock tests and practice interviews. All this helps the student excel in the final rounds with the companies.

Careers360: In a nutshell, could you sum up your experiences at your institution/university?

Answer: The university experience is very special for everyone, and as for me, I have learned and experienced so many new things in the period since my initial days, and it has gone by so fast. I am still discovering all the opportunities that the university offers me. Chitkara University is a very welcoming place, and from the first day, I feel at home here. I have made many new friends from many different backgrounds. I have been allowed to explore my inner potential here and also to explore the global platform. I went to the Malaysian Summer School Programme and had the experience of a lifetime there. I have participated in many cultural events, club activities, and department activities as well; our faculty is also very supportive and full of skill, which makes it easy to balance our academics and co-curricular activities together. Time has been flying by, and it’s hard to believe that we have been on campus for four years already. Life at Chitkara University is a great experience.
