Kethani: I am S. Kethani Gowri, a BCom (Hons) Graduate from VIT Chennai in 2025. I have a strong interest in finance and accounting and enjoy painting in my free time.
Careers360: Please tell us about the VIT Chennai campus and the reasons that influenced your decision to choose it.
Kethani: One of the main reasons I chose VIT Chennai was its strong academic reputation and focus on practical learning through projects, internships, and research work.

Careers360: What course are you pursuing at VIT Chennai, and why did you choose this particular specialisation?
Kethani: I have completed my degree BCom (Hons) from VIT Chennai. This program provides in-depth knowledge of financial management, corporate accounting, taxation,
Careers360: Where did you complete your summer internship, what was its duration, and how were you selected?
Kethani: I also completed my summer internship as a part of my academic requirement, where I worked on a capstone research project related to Reliance Industries Limited. I was chosen for this internship based on my academic record, interest in finance, and willingness to work on financial analysis and research. I analysed the annual reports, financial statements, and working capital management of Reliance Industries over the last five years. This internship gave me hands-on experience in financial analysis and corporate financial management.
Careers360: Could you elaborate on the support you received from faculty members, peers, and the placement cell during your internship?
Kethani: During my internship and capstone project, I got considerable support from my faculty mentor, who assisted me throughout my research. They helped me grasp financial concepts, ratio analysis, and correct research methodology. My classmates also assisted me in my research through discussions, idea exchange, and assistance in understanding financial information.
Careers360: How relevant was the internship to your academic programme?
Kethani: It enabled me to apply the concepts I learned in my subjects such as financial management, accounting, and business analysis to a real company. In my project, I was able to analyse the working capital components such as current assets, current liabilities, liquidity ratios, and turnover ratios. The research enabled me to understand how companies manage liquidity, maintain financial stability, and operate efficiently.
Careers360: How was your internship experience overall? What were your major learnings from it?
Kethani: The project has also assisted me in comprehending the effects of financial choices on the efficiency of a company’s operations. Furthermore, I have enhanced my research skills and ability to analyse financial information.
