DU BA Eligibility Criteria 2023- Basic Requirements

Candidates who seek Delhi University admission for undergraduate studies in arts can learn more about the eligibility for BA programme in DU CUET by reading the following bullet points.

  • In order to apply for admission to Delhi University’s undergraduate courses, candidates are required to have cleared Class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognized board of school education.

  • A candidate who seeks admission in B.A courses at Delhi University are required to have completed Class 12 or an equivalent exam with minimum marks or more as specified for his/her category.

  • There will be no minimum or maximum age limit for undergraduate programmes at Delhi University.

  • Candidates whose results are released in a format other than the percentage system should refer to the grade conversion table and enter a percentage corresponding with their grade.

Combination of Subjects for ‘Best of Four’

B.A. (Hons.) English

55% or more marks in English

1. An aggregate of no less than 55% marks in English and a set of three best other subjects from the below: any language subjects (core/elective) from List A, Economics, Geography, History, Legal Studies, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.

2. It should be noted that inclusion of any other subject from List B in the set of the best three will give candidates a deduction of 1% per subject, with a total deduction of 2%.

3. On the other hand, inclusion of any subject other than those in List A and List B in the set of the best three will give candidates a deduction of 2.5% per subject.

B.A. (Hons.) Hindi

55% or more marks in Hindi

1. An aggregate of no less 50% in Hindi core/ elective and set of best three other subjects from List A and List B.

2. It should be noted that inclusion of any subject other than those in List A and List B in the set of the best three will give candidates a deduction of 2.5% per subject.

B.A. (Hons.) Bengali / Punjabi / Sanskrit / Urdu

40% or more marks in Class X or Class XII in the respective subject in which admission is sought.

1. An aggregate of no less than 45% in either English or any Indian language from List A and the set of best three other subjects from List A and List B.

2. Inclusion of any subject(s) other than those featuring in List A and List B will give candidates a deduction of 2.5% per subject.

B. A. (Hons.) Arabic/ Persian

40% or more marks in Class X or Class XII in Arabic / Persian / Urdu

1. An aggregate of no less than 45% or more marks in either English or any Indian language from List A and a set of the best three other subjects from Lists A and B.

2. It should be noted that inclusion of any subject(s) other than those given in Lists A and B will give candidates a deduction of 2.5% per subject. on the aggregate of the Best Four

B.A. (Hons.) French/ German/ Italian/ Spanish


1. An aggregate of 45% marks or more in one language from List A and a combination of the best three other subjects from Lists A and B.

2. Inclusion of any subject(s) other than given in Lists A and B in the ―best three will lead to a deduction of 2.5% per subject.

B.A. (Hons.) Applied Psychology/ Geography/ History/ Political Science/ Social Work/ Sociology/ Philosophy/ Psychology


1. An aggregate of no less than 55% marks in either English or any one of scheduled languages from List A1, and a set of best three other subjects from elective subjects of Lists A and B.

2. Out of the best three chosen above one needs to be the related subject in which admission is sought, otherwise a deduction of 1% will be enforced on the aggregate of the Best Four. However, no such deduction will be imposed for admission in Philosophy (Hons).

3. It should be noted that inclusion of any subject other than those given in Lists A and B will give candidates a deduction of 2.5% per subject on the aggregate of the Best Four.

B.A. (Hons.) Economics

Applicants must have passed in Mathematics in the qualifying examination

1. An aggregate of no less than 60% marks in one Language from List A1, a set of best three other elective subjects from Lists A and B.

2. Out of the best two chosen above non-inclusion of Economics will give candidates a deduction of 1% on the aggregate of the Best Four.

3. Inclusion of any subject other than those given in Lists A and B will give candidates a deduction of 2.5% per subject on the aggregate of the Best Four.
