Careers360: Tell us something about yourself.

Siffat: I am Siffat Sawhney, a sophomore at Chitkara University specialising in business analytics. I like to cook, paint, and take photographs in my free time.

Careers360: How did you come to choose your institution/university and what factors were instrumental in your choice?

Siffat: So, I considered a variety of factors before deciding on a particular university.

Chitkara University is known for the strength of the program that was in my area of interest and the field in which I was required to major. I also took into account the institution's reputation in the academic community, the success of its alumni, and its academic rankings. My interests and ideals are in line with the ambiance and flow of this university. Another aspect that mattered to me was the college community and culture.

Careers360: What were the salient features of your admission process at your institution/university that struck you as unique?

Siffat: Applicants must do their research and grasp the individual needs and expectations of each university to which they are applying because each university may have its distinctive elements in the admissions process. I received individualised attention and guidance at Chitkara University, which I felt was very significant and helpful to me. The instructors and trainers were highly skilled and knowledgeable in their fields. The application procedure was quick, easy, and efficient.

Careers360: What is your take on the initial days at your institution/university campus considering that it is the time to build contacts, understand the processes? Could you give details on the support given by the institute?

Siffat: Since we were informed that our course would begin in offline mode, I'll admit that I was a little anxious. However, once I started coming to the university, I discovered that the staff was incredibly kind and supportive of the students. Since we were unfamiliar with the university area (as the university is vast), we had trouble finding places like our department building, classes, cafeterias, activity grounds, and other locations, but at every step we had mentors and our seniors, who became your buddies for the first few weeks, helping us at every step. Teachers made it easy for us to adjust to life on campus. Additionally, the faculty engaged with us enough during class to make us feel at home and ease.

Careers360: Now that you are a part of your institution/university campus, what in your opinion are stand apart features of the institute that you think are really assets to building a student’s career and future?

Siffat: The university emphasises practical training and connections with business, which help students gain real-world experience and develop the skills they need to succeed in their chosen fields. We also have a "Global Week" every year where professors from across the world and experts in different areas of study come and teach us on the campus.

It is becoming more and more crucial for students to acquire a global perspective in today's connected society. The university provides opportunities for studying abroad, conducting research abroad, or completing internships abroad that can benefit students by giving them significant cross-cultural experience and preparing them for success in a global economy.

After my great freshman year, my second year has started at a high, i.e., I am going to be a part of the Disney International Program which is a Cultural Exchange Program in the United States of America. It was my dream as a child to live and work in the USA, and this opportunity has fulfilled my dream. I am super excited to spend my three-month summer break working at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida while experiencing Disney Magic firsthand.

I will be receiving hands-on training from some of the industry's top entertainment and customer service experts as part of this program. Everything that I received at the university was more than I expected. It will open my horizons as I face my future.

Careers360: Could you give details on the industry connection that is inbuilt with the course at Chitkara University and its advantages?

Siffat: Chitkara University places a big focus on hands-on learning and ties with industry, which helps students get practical experience and build the skills they need to be successful in their chosen careers. Which is a must for students to survive in the fast-paced world and society of today.

Careers360: How advantageous in your opinion is your institution/university alumni network connection and in which ways?

Siffat: The alumni network at Chitkara University is an excellent resource that gives students and new graduates access to business contacts, job openings, career advice, mentorship, and chances for lifelong learning. It gives job seekers a competitive edge in the job market and offers a supportive community of like-minded people. Strong and active alumni networks at the university can offer current students useful resources and connections. This might include networking occasions, job recommendations, and mentorship programs.

Careers360: Internships are an integral part of any student’s life. Please talk about the internship process at your institution/university and how they lead to students being placement ready.

Siffat: Internships are a crucial component of any student's academic career since they give them hands-on experience and exposure to a particular field. Offices or departments that specialise in assisting students in finding internships that fit their interests and career aspirations. Once the recruitment companies visit the university campus, students must apply for the internship once they have discovered one that appeals to them. The submission of a resume, cover letter, and other pertinent documents may be required for this.

After that, students will be asked to attend an interview if their application is selected for further consideration. By learning about the business and honing their interviewing techniques, they should be ready for the interview. The student may receive an offer from the business following the interview, which they can accept or reject. A significant number of students are placed each year by various recruitment agencies that visit Chitkara University based on the courses and programmes.

Internships are an essential component of a student's academic career because they offer real-world experience, possibilities for professional growth, and connections that can help them get jobs. They will get the chance to network with experts in their field and forge important contacts.

Careers360: In a nutshell, could you sum up your experiences at your institution/ university?

Siffat: The teachers, professors and mentors I encountered here are incredibly considerate and supportive of the students.

Chitkara University features classrooms that enable instruction using contemporary methods. There are classrooms with projectors that can connect to Wi-Fi and central air conditioning. Its auditorium is fully equipped. The institution is equipped with newly refurbished dorms, a medical facility, a contemporary gym, a swimming pool, a sports complex, libraries, cafeterias, conference rooms, and much more. Here, cafeterias are built around a very distinctive concept.

The development of each student as a whole is Chitkara University's overarching educational goal. The best options for extracurricular activities, which are an essential part of personal development, are provided by the university. I believe that joining a group or society helps us learn, grow, and experience new things. We gain knowledge of time management, communication, and leadership. It provided us with a chance to interact socially and make new friends.
