Careers360: Tell us something about yourself.

Answer: I am Kanishka Sardana, a second-year student at Chitkara University Institute of Engineering and Technology. I’m currently pursuing a BE in Computer Science Engineering. I’m an avid reader and writer, and I love to spend my leisure time reading books and searching for new words to write with.

Careers360: How did you come to choose your institution/university and what factors were instrumental in your choice?

Answer: I first learned about Chitkara University from my school seniors who were studying here while I was completing my school education. Since then, I have been interested in visiting the university and experiencing hostel life. Once I had seen the infrastructure of the university and the amazing hostels, I was convinced to spend the next 4 years of my life at a place like this.

Careers360: What were the salient features of your admission process at your institution/university that struck you as unique?

Answer: The Admission process was easy and promising. As a hosteler staying away from home, my parents were assured of my safety within the campus. The university staff and professors were very helpful and were able to guide me through any issues that I faced as a newbie on campus.

Careers360: What is your take on the initial days at your institution/university campus considering that it is the time to build contacts, and understand the processes? Could you give details on the support given by the institute?

Answer: I think that the company one finds during the initial days of college has a likely chance to stick with them throughout college life. I was thankful to build contacts with not only talented students but also with some very kind and skilled professors who have been guiding me since the very beginning of my journey at Chitkara University.

Careers360: Now that you are a part of your institution/university campus, what in your opinion are stand apart features of the institute that you think are really assets to building a student’s career and future?

Answer: Various technical and cultural clubs and societies at the university play a pivotal role in building the personality of a student. I, myself, have been a part of some of the most promising student chapters, and I believe that my skills have only improved in the time I have been connected to them. Personality development plays a huge role in building one’s career and future. A lot of students, while pursuing their respective degrees, are still not sure what they want to do in the future. Various events are organised on the Chitkara campus to help them see a clearer vision of what they want to do with their lives.

Careers360: Could you give details on the industry connection that is inbuilt with the course at Chitkara University and its advantages?

Answer: As for the BE CSE course that I am studying, we are being trained to be interview-ready by the industry experts teaching us at the moment. The trainers provide students with various opportunities to showcase their coding skills and more. They help us develop our creativity, originality, and problem-solving abilities. The course is set in such a way that no student faces any challenges, and everything is taught from the very basics, maintaining a good pace and reaching an advanced level in an appropriate amount of time.

Careers360: How advantageous in your opinion is your institution/university alumni network connection and in which ways?

Answer: Chitkara has a strong alumni network that assists current students at the university and mentors them to give them a taste of what working in the corporate world is like. They provide us with practical knowledge and guidance based on their experience. Additionally, they motivate us to establish more contacts.

Careers360: Internships are an integral part of any student’s life. Please talk about the internship process at your institution/university and how they lead to students being placement ready.

Answer: Chitkara University has a very high placement percentage. For the CSE department, the process essentially tests the students coding abilities and their aptitude, along with a test for logical reasoning. The students can select the companies based on their preferences. Furthermore, each company has its own set of questions and a specific number of interview rounds for hiring, and we are groomed for these interactions regularly and stringently through special workshops and sessions.

Careers360: In a nutshell, could you sum up your experiences at your institution/university?

Answer: My experience at Chitkara University has been nothing but amazing. The beautifully designed university is always such a sight to see. I’ve met some of the most inspiring people and been able to attend exceptional fests and workshops while being here. As a reader, I spend most of my time sitting outdoors with a book in my hands. The campus life here is all that I could have possibly asked for.
