Careers360: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Perminder: I am Perminder, a fun-loving and sharp-minded individual who enjoys travelling and exploring new places. I believe I am incredibly hardworking and a dedicated person who is always striving to achieve her goals. My passion for learning and self-improvement is evident in the way I approach challenges with an open mind and a positive attitude. With my communication skills and ability to work well with others, I am a true team Player who is always willing to lend a helping hand.
Careers360: What were the factors that made you choose your institution/university?
Perminder: Chitkara University is known for its excellent academic reputation, experienced faculty, and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The university also has an excellent track record of placements, which was a significant factor for me when choosing where to pursue my master's degree.
Careers360: Why did you choose to pursue your specialization
Perminder: I chose to pursue a specialization in journalism and mass communication because I have a passion for storytelling and a keen interest in the media industry. I wanted to develop my skills in communication, writing, and journalism, and a master's degree in this field was the perfect way to do so.

Perminder: I started my journey at Chitkara University as an intern in 2020 and was later hired as an Assistant Manager, Social Media. As a student, I gained valuable knowledge and experience in the field of journalism and mass communication, and as an employee, I have been able to apply that knowledge and gain further experience in social media management.
Careers360: What are the key learning points from your college days that have held you in good stead so far?
Perminder: The key learning points from my college days that have held me in good stead so far include developing strong communication and writing skills, learning to work well under pressure, and gaining an understanding of the media industry's ever-changing landscape. Also being able to acquire technical knowledge, in terms of video editing, photography and podcasting, has made me one of the top skilled candidates in various interviews.
Careers360: Share a few good memories from your college days.
Perminder: Some good memories from my college days include working on group projects with my classmates, attending seminars and workshops, and participating in extracurricular activities.
Careers360: What were the extra curricular activities you participated in during your college days?
Perminder: During my college days, I participated in various extracurricular activities, including writing for the university newspaper and participating in a public speaking club. These activities helped me develop my skills in writing, communication, and leadership, which have been invaluable in my current role.

Perminder: My placement season was challenging but exciting. I had the opportunity to interview with several reputed organizations, and eventually landed a job as an Assistant Manager of Social Media at Chitkara University. I will always cherish the memories of my job interviews and the excitement of receiving a job offer.

Perminder: Yes, I strongly believe that constant reinvention is a must in any field, especially in the fast-changing field of journalism and mass communication. As a professional in this field, it is essential to keep up with the latest trends, technologies, and tools to stay relevant and provide the best value to the organization and audience. To stay updated, I regularly read industry publications, attend conferences and webinars, and network with peers to learn from their experiences. It's also important to experiment with new techniques and approaches to enhance my skills and expertise continually.

Perminder: My advice to future aspirants in journalism and mass communication is to be passionate, curious, and open-minded. This field requires constant learning and unlearning, so it's essential to stay updated and embrace new technologies and tools. It's also crucial to build a strong network and work on developing excellent communication skills, as they are vital in this profession. Lastly, don't be afraid to take risks and experiment with new approaches and techniques to enhance your skills and expertise. With hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn, anyone can succeed in this field.
