Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am RJ Sonal, working as a radio jockey at Radio Orange (106.4 FM), a BJMC 2018–2021 pass-out.

What were the factors that made you choose your institution/university?

I had heard great things about Chitkara University and how it’s the best institute for mass communication, and that's what helped me zero in on the university.

Why did you choose to pursue your specialization

Because I felt that this would help me grow. It was not just my interest, but my passion. As they say, when you do something you love, you will enjoy what you are doing, and every day will be full of learning and happiness.

Please describe your journey till date.

It’s like a roller coaster, full of ups and downs. From not knowing what to do to finding my passion in radio, I felt like this was what was meant to be and I could do it happily for the rest of my life. I am enjoying this journey, which is full of learning and new experiences.

What are the key learning points from your college days that have held you in good stead so far?

Be open to new things and ideas. Always try something that piques your interest; basically, try new things. Sometimes we don’t know which things we are good at, and only by trying can we discover new things. You have the chance to unearth abilities or interests that you may not have been aware of before by trying new things.

Share a few good memories from your college days.

My experiences at the university with my friends and faculty are memorable, and I treasure them. I cherish the connection that I developed with them. These were exceptional days, and they gave me a sense of belonging.

What were the extracurricular activities you participated in during your college days? How did they help in shaping your future and career path?

I participated in fests, and also in dance and modeling competitions. A rewarding experience, indeed. Participating in these events allowed me to showcase my talent, become more confident and make friends with like-minded individuals.

How would you describe the support that you got from the faculty and team / classmates? How did it help?

I just want to say one word, which is "A Big Thank You." I would like to thank them for their constant support and encouragement in everything I did.

What was your placement season like? Any memories you would like to share with our readers?

Overall, it was a great experience. I got to interact with and meet individuals from different media houses, and it was an enriching experience.

Do you believe that constant reinvention is a must and that one needs to keep abreast of the updated trends in the field? How best would you describe the process?

Absolutely! To stay relevant and ahead of the curve in today's fast-shifting world, it's essential to have a mindset of reinvention and adaptation. The secret to success is adapting to changing times, embracing innovation, and maintaining relevance.
