What is the Purpose of DEB ID?

Unlike regular courses, the ODL and online courses are not very well discussed. Apart from a few well-known open universities like IGNOU, most online courses are not very well known among students. To avoid situations where students get enrolled in programmes which are not recognised by the UGC, the commission has mandated students to get registered under UGC DEB so that they get clarity if the programme they have enrolled in is recognised under the University Grant Commission.

Questions related to IGNOU

Have a question related to IGNOU ?

Hello,

Your situation highlights the challenges of transitioning between programs due to curriculum changes. Here are some potential solutions:

  1. Check with IGNOU: Contact IGNOU’s Student Support or Regional Center to inquire about any exceptional provisions for students in your situation, such as completing the last semester under special approval.
  2. Institutes that accept credit transfer : Unfortunately, most Indian universities, including IGNOU, are not very liberal with credit transfer from discontinued syllabi. However, some private universities may consider it. Reach out to institutions like Amity University Online, Sikkim Manipal University, or Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning, as they may evaluate your credits.
  3. If there is no institute that takes the credit transfer, consider fresh admission in IGNOU's new BCA course . You might have to take some courses again, but a good part of your study can overlap.
  4. Upgrade Skills : Instead, complete certifications such as IT or coding. This can be Python, Data Science, or Cloud Computing, for example, which will improve employability without a formal degree.

Consult IGNOU or other distance learning institutions for detailed advice.

Hello Aniket,

If you've completed 5 out of 6 semesters of your BCA from IGNOU and are looking for a university that will allow you to transfer your credits, there are a few options to explore. Many universities have credit transfer policies, but they vary depending on the institution. Here's what you can do:

  1. Contact IGNOU: Reach out to IGNOU's student support or academic office to check if they offer any assistance in transitioning students to a new syllabus or credit transfer options to another university.

  2. Research Universities with Credit Transfer Policies: Some universities in India and abroad accept credit transfers from other universities, especially if the programs are recognized by UGC. Look for institutions that offer BCA or similar undergraduate programs and check their transfer policies.

  3. Distance Learning Universities: Universities like Amity University, Sikkim Manipal University, or Manipal University might have flexible credit transfer policies for students from institutions like IGNOU.

  4. Contact Universities Directly: Contact admissions offices at universities where you're interested in continuing your BCA. Explain your situation and ask for details on their credit transfer process.

  5. Credit Transfer Requirements: Be ready to provide syllabi, transcripts, and other relevant documents that demonstrate what you’ve already completed at IGNOU. The university will evaluate the courses you've taken and determine which credits can be transferred.

  6. Check for Online Options: Some online universities might have more flexibility in transferring credits, as they cater to a broader range of students from different institutions.

Each university will have its own specific criteria, so it's important to get in touch with the admissions or academic offices for detailed guidance on the process.

Hello,

you have to prepare yourself for your b.tech exams first because its a regular course.you'd have to choose one.  IGNOU conducts exams twice a year, so you can still write it after 6 months without losing a year.

IGNOU exams are quite tough to pass.its not a cup of tea that you can pass both exams simultaneously with good marks.in case you still want to give exams give more time to the hardest one .Schedule dedicated time slots for each exam-specific subject, ensuring you cover the unique portions thoroughly.

Hope it helps..

If you have taken admission in IGNOU b.com for the June session 2021 and your course validity is upto  the year 2026.you can sit for June 2025 exam if you haven't appear for 1 subject by any reason.

A new set is released for assignment every new year, its you who has to decide when you can appear the exams upto the validity year.and thus fill the exam form after submitting  your assignments well on time(31t May & 31st Sept are last dates).

Hope I solved your query.

Have a good day.
