While filling out an application form or taking admission, students may have come across a section, where they need to fill out their ABC ID. Now the question is, what is ABC ID? What does ABC ID do? To answer that, let’s understand ABC ID first. The full form of ABC ID is Academic Bank of Credit, which is an initiative from the Ministry of Education, Govt of India, with a sole purpose of creating a digital medium for students for their academic credits. This system is beneficial for those students who need to change their college after one or two years, or even those who dropout of college and decide to take re-admission after some time.

The Academic Bank of Credit system is a digital credit storage system where with every semester, candidates can store their earned credit and use this later on, if required. It is worth noting that the ABC system is not only useful for storing credit, but it also works as a mode of student verification, maintaining an authentic and confidential way to manage student credits. Even national level exams such as CUET UG 2024 have acknowledged this system and allowed students to enter their ABC ID at the time of registration. Read the entire article to learn more.
It allows the institutions to manage and transfer academic credits in a structured manner.
The system verifies the authenticity of student credits, only sharing it with the concerned authorities.
Institutions can transfer and receive academic credits at ease, in online mode.
ABC makes it more convenient for students to get their academic credits recognised.
Students with ABC ID can be allowed to take multiple admissions and exits. Their academic credits can be transferred directly from their current institution to their future one.
Once the credits are transferred to the candidate's account, they can use these credits with a span of 7 years.
The ABC credit transfer process consists of two stages: The first institution sends those credits to the second institution. Then, the second institution accepts these credits and transfers those to the student’s account.
Only the institutions that are verified with the system can send and receive academic credits under ABC.
The ABC system provides transparency to both the institutions and students and helps the admission process be conducted in a centralised way.

Students creating the APAAR/ ABC ID must be aware of how the system works. As per the authority, the credit process works on 3A’s, which are allocation, accumulation and awarding. Let’s learn these stages in details:
Allocation:
In this stage, students are assigned a decided number of academic credits to their account, as per the programme they enrol in. This may differ as per the programme they have registered in. Some programmes may include different credit lines for different parts, such as separate credit for theory, practical, or assignment, etc.
Accumulation:
As the course progresses, candidates keep on saving credits. At the end of a semester or year, the total number of credits will be deposited to the candidate’s account.
Awarding:
In the final stage, candidates can use these credits as per their future academic aspirations. In case a student wants to take admission in a different institution, he/ she can use these accumulated credits to take admission in a new institution, without losing years. In that case, his/ her credits will be directly transferred to the new institution, from the old one.

BSc is a future oriented course which emphasis on research as well as teaching oriented degree It gives you a depth on that subject But it depends on your future what you want to do. Btech is industry based course and Bsc is a research based academic degree and NEET is a entry level of professional course If you have enough courage to take a drop and crack any entrance of Engineering or neet for good colleges then you can drop a year. But firstly make sure that your drop year should be worth enough in future.it totally depends on you how you are going to spend your coming year.
If you are not sure about any of these courses and want to take admission this year go for bachelor in science in private universities as they still open their admission process.
