The University Grants Commission has identified 32 fake universities across India. These fake universities have been found across 12 states, and the UGC has warned students not to take admission in those colleges. Last year, there were 22 fake universities in India, but this year that number has increased to 32. New states added to the list this year include Haryana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and Arunachal Pradesh, each reporting one fake university.

According to the latest report released by the UGC, Delhi has the highest number of fake universities with 12. Some of these fake universities in Delhi include Commercial University Ltd. in Daryaganj, Vocational University in Delhi, and Indian Institute of Science and Engineering in New Delhi. Uttar Pradesh is next to Delhi in the number of fake universities, with four reported.
