    SRMIST Organises Awareness Programme to Observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse on 30 June 2026

    As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah campaign, the Anti-Drug Committee of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, organised an awareness programme to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 30 June 2026. The programme was presided over by Prof. Leenus J. Martin M., Dean, College of Engineering and Technology; Dr A. Duraisamy, Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities; Dr Chitra V., Dean, College of Pharmacy; and Dr Albert Antony Raj S., Deputy Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities.

    Addressing the students, Shri Deepak Kaushik stressed the importance of awareness and collective responsibility in preventing drug abuse among youth. "Drug abuse among youth is a growing challenge that requires greater awareness, vigilance, and active community participation. He said, " I urge every student to make informed choices and become an ambassador for a drug-free society."

    In his address, Shri M. P. Murali Krishnan highlighted the health risks and legal consequences of substance abuse and emphasised the importance of early awareness and counselling. "Substance abuse poses serious health risks and carries significant legal consequences. Early intervention, counselling, and awareness are essential in preventing drug abuse. He said I encourage students to spread awareness within their families and communities and contribute towards building a drug-free society."

Faculty members and students from the colleges under the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences actively participated in the programme, demonstrating a collective commitment to advancing awareness and supporting the national mission of building a drug-free India.
