“Real impact comes from going beyond the expected,” said Dr. Raja Sabapathy, Chairman, Division of Plastic Surgery, Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, and President of the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand, highlighting the importance of responsibility and excellence at the SRM International Hand Conclave 2026, themed Re-Hand.
Hosted by the SRM College of Physiotherapy at SRMIST, the conclave brought together over 1000 delegates from across India and around the world, including participants from 40+ institutions across India and abroad, creating a vibrant platform for clinical exchange, academic dialogue, and global collaboration in hand rehabilitation.
The event unfolded around a clear and evolving focus, advancing hand therapy through evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary integration, and patient-centred care.

Welcoming the gathering, Prof. Shantharam, Professor & Head, Department of Plastic Surgery, SRMMCHRC Kattankulathur, emphasised the academic relevance of the conclave, stating, “Hand Conclave 2026 brings together current and evidence-based practices in hand rehabilitation, equipping students and therapists to improve patient care.”
In the Presidential Address, Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST, highlighted the evolving role of physiotherapy in modern healthcare. He noted, “Healthcare is no longer about survival alone; it is about how well people live, and physiotherapy plays a central role in enabling that shift.”
Adding a multidisciplinary perspective, Dr Nitin M. Nagarkar, Pro VC (MHS), SRMIST, in his Special Address, underscored the importance of applied knowledge in clinical practice. He remarked, “Great clinicians are defined not just by what they know, but by how effectively they apply and communicate it.”
As the sessions progressed, national and international experts shared clinical insights, case-based discussions, and emerging practices, ensuring that the knowledge exchanged remained grounded in real-world application.
The SRM International Hand Conclave 2026 wrapped on a strong and purposeful note, reinforcing the commitment of the SRM College of Physiotherapy at SRM Institute of Science and Technology for advancing excellence in rehabilitation sciences and creating platforms that bridge academic learning with clinical impact.
