Rishab did his B.Com and MBA from Shoolini University and has been working as a senior relationship manager at ICICI Securities. Careers360: Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested in or you switched your field?

Rishab Sharma (RS): I have been placed as a senior relationship manager at ICICI Securities. I deal with advising customer portfolios. Yes, I was fortunate enough to pursue the field I was always interested in.

Careers360: Can you tell us briefly about your career path so far?

RS: From my school days, I have been a career-oriented person. I completed my BCom and MBA degrees at Shoolini University. While I was pursuing these programmes, I got three opportunities to work in sales-oriented internships. At present, I am working with ICICI Securities.

Careers360: Is the Industry work different from what you learnt at Shoolini University?

RS: Yes, working in a professional environment is different. However, the cutting-edge curriculum and personality development programmes such as skill progression through Rapid Intensive and Innovative Training (SPRINT) helped me tremendously to become industry-ready.

Careers360: How do you think your time in Shoolini University has added value to your life, both professional and personal?

RS: My life as a student at Shoolini has certainly been rewarding, be it academics or participating in co-curricular activities or events. It helped me to grow in all aspects. I give full credit to the faculty for updating my skills and helping me reach my top potential. Initially, I lacked confidence but with the support of teachers I have gained confidence and poise through various skill development programmes like SPRINT. I learnt communication skills, presentation skills and how to overcome fear.

Additionally, I took part in some technical sessions that helped me brush up my knowledge. Shoolini provides internships with renowned companies which prepares us for the professional life ahead.

Careers360: What was your initial thought process when you joined Shoolini University?

RS: I was excited and enthusiastic. The awe-inspiring infrastructure and the vibrant campus just amazed me.

Careers360: You must have had a memorable time at Shoolini University. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.

RS: Yes, of course. Each day on the campus has been fun. Life at Shoolini is not just about studying but also about the development of the personality. My fondest memory is of me and my friends hanging out at the Nescafe Cafeteria. The fun, the laughter, the togetherness and the friends I made in the university can never be forgotten.

Careers360: Briefly take us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do and your routine life.

RS: MBA is very demanding. We had our first class at 8:30 am (90 mins). The dress code was formal wear. The seminars, Guru Talks, guest lectures and SPRINT sessions were a lot of fun and provided valuable learnings. Due to the pandemic, examinations and assignments were held online without any glitches.

Careers360: Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in and how did it enrich your life?

RS: Academics and extracurricular activities went hand in hand at Shoolini University. There were plenty of opportunities for students of different interests and talents. I participated in many activities throughout my college life, gaining confidence, appreciation and management skills. I was a member of two clubs, YouWeCan - an Indian non-profit organisation dedicated to fighting cancer and Afforestation Club.

Careers360: How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements and what was the role of the institute in it?

RS: My MBA journey consisted of seminars, programmes, guest lectures, webinars and various other activities. The university took every opportunity to provide students an insight into the industrial world.

Careers360: You are a proud alumnus of Shoolini University. What is the best part of Shoolini University from a student's perspective?

RS: For me, faculty members were the best part of my university. They were highly experienced, helpful and humble, shaping every student’s career. The illustrious teachers come from globally acclaimed universities with loads of experience and knowledge.

RS: It is important to participate in co-curricular activities and gain knowledge in all aspects. College life is the best place to identify weaknesses, face challenges and overcome every hurdle that comes your way. So, have fun and build your confidence.

Shoolini university is UGC approved Government College situated in Himachal Pradesh. There is no entrance examination for taking admission in Bsc agriculture in this university. You just have to to fill up their application form from there official website. hope this will help you
