An Interview with Mr Satish Shetty, Chairman and Managing Trustee at RNSIT Bangalore

RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT), Bangalore, was established in the year 2001. RNSIT is an affiliated college of Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. The institute offers courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. RNS Institute of Technology courses include BTech, MBA and MCA. In this conversation, Mr Satish Shetty, who is the Managing Trustee and Chairman of RNSIT Bangalore, talks with Careers360 about the institute, courses, admission, scholarships, placement, fees, eligibility criteria, and other aspects. Careers360: Tell us something about the institute: when it was set up, its vision and mission

Mr Satish Shetty: R N S Institute of Technology (RNSIT), established in the year 2001, is the brainchild of the Group Founder, Dr R. N. Shetty, a well-known industrialist and a great philanthropist. The institution was founded with the sole purpose of imparting quality education in Engineering, Technology and Management with a difference.

Careers360: Tell us something about the admission process?

Mr Satish Shetty: The candidates shall have passed the 2nd year Pre University or 12th standard or equivalent examination held preceding the entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects - Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology or Electronics.

Students who have appeared for the Entrance exams conducted by CET / COMED-K/ JEE is must for Engineering course admissions under the management Quota.

The Candidate should have secured not less than 45% of aggregate marks in optional subjects and 40% of aggregate marks in optional subjects for SC/ST candidates with English as one of the languages for engineering admissions. (PCM/PMB/PME/PMCS/PMBT).

The candidate should have appeared for one of the entrance exams, i.e. CET/ COMEDK / JEE, and should have a valid score / valid rank. If the student has not taken any of the exams, i.e. CET/ COMEDK / JEE shall write the RNSIT examination to be eligible for admissions under the Management quota.

Careers360: What kind of infrastructure can students expect at the institute? Please elaborate?

Mr Satish Shetty: RNSIT offers a well-developed and student-friendly campus with modern infrastructure designed to support both academic excellence and overall personality development. The institute is spread across a lush green campus and provides a vibrant environment for learning and innovation.

Academically, students have access to spacious and well-ventilated classrooms equipped with audio-visual teaching aids and LCD projectors, creating an interactive learning experience. Careers360: There is a lot of stress that is being made with regard to interaction with the industry, as well as companies that recruit. What are the steps being taken by the institute in this direction?

Mr Satish Shetty: At RNSIT, students are given numerous opportunities to interact with industry professionals and gain exposure to the corporate world. The institute regularly organises guest lectures, workshops, seminars, technical talks, and industrial visits, where experts from various industries share their experiences and insights. These interactions help students understand current industry trends and expectations beyond the classroom.

Careers360: Please share placement statistics with information on the average package, the highest and lowest package, the number of students placed and details of companies that have recruited.

Mr Satish Shetty: The highest CTC offered to a student by Texas Instruments is Rs 20.87 LPA at RNSIT Bangalore, the average package is 6.60 LPA, the lowest package is Rs 2.4 LPA, and 537 students were placed during the 2026 placement drive. For more details, check the table below.
