Careers360: Why is research and innovation important from the University's point of view?

Careers360: What are the advantages that students will get from these?

Amity University: Students get access to funded research projects, patent filing support, and fellowships. This exposure builds skills beyond the classroom and strengthens applications for higher studies or research linked careers.

Careers360: Research is an important parameter for rankings and quality of education. Why is this so? And how is it related?

Amity University: Rankings such as NIRF, QS, and THE weigh research output, citations, funded projects, and patents heavily, since these reflect an institution's contribution to knowledge and its faculty's standing. Strong publication and patent numbers signal academic depth beyond teaching alone, which is why research performance moves the needle on these rankings.

Careers360: How is research and innovation encouraged at Amity amongst not just the faculty but also students?

Amity University: Amity runs dedicated bodies for this, including the Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation (ASTIF) and several Centres of Excellence (CoEs), alongside a Patent Cell that promotes a patenting culture among faculty and students. Students can also apply for research fellowships and take part in innovation weeks, hackathons, and doctoral conclaves held across Amity campuses.

Amity University: Amity's research output includes more than 45,000 papers published in peer reviewed journals, over 476 granted patents, many of them already commercialised, and a Scopus H-index of 207. On the people side, 84 Amity faculty currently feature on the global list of the world's top 2 percent scientists. Careers360: Student participation in research or innovation is generally less than desired. What corrective measures would you suggest to encourage them?

Amity University: Practical steps include stipend linked fellowships such as USRF to make research financially viable for undergraduates, more visible platforms like innovation weeks and doctoral conclaves to showcase student work, and pairing students with ongoing faculty projects earlier instead of waiting until final year. Recognition and small seed grants for early stage ideas also help sustain interest beyond a single semester.
