Candidates belonging to the Unreserved (UR) category do not fall under any reserved category; therefore, they can fill out the CUET 2026 form without a caste certificate. However, candidates from other categories must produce valid certificates to claim any reservation benefits or CUET fee concessions. There are eight categories recognised by the NTA for CUET UG 2026. The information brochure provides details on whether a caste certificate is mandatory for CUET registration. Yes, an aspirant can apply for the CUET exam without a caste certificate by applying under the Unreserved category. SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and EWS—cannot apply under their respective categories unless they have a valid caste certificate. But they can also apply without the caste certificate by submitting a declaration of the category certificate for OBC- NCL, SC, ST, and EWS. However, such candidates must have shown their original category certificate at the time of admission.
An applicant who does not have a category certificate may choose any of the following points.

If anyone falls under any category, but does not possess relevant certificates, and applied for the same, can also submit the declaration. The category certificate declaration for the OBC- NCL, SC, ST, and EWS is available in the information brochure.

NTA determines the following categories for the CUET 2026 exam
General (UR)
OBC- (NCL)
EWS
SC
ST
PwD
PwBD
Third Gender
The CUET form fees 2026 based on the different categories are as follows.

Indian nationals belonging to certain categories (OBC-NCL, Gen-EWS, SC, ST, PwD/PwBD) are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government of India/State Governments. Candidates who claim to fall under any of the above mentioned categories must upload their CUET reservation certificate in the prescribed format.
CUET general category without certificate- A UR candidate can fill the form without any prior document.
CUET OBC caste certificate requirement- A candidate belonging to OBC- NCL must upload the updated OBC caste certificate.
CUET SC/ST caste certificate rules- A person belonging to the SC/ST category will be required to give a proof of the category. They must upload the SC/ST valid certificate by the SDO.
CUET EWS certificate requirement- Those whose family income is below Rs.8 Lakh/annum fall under the EWS category. Students do not need to upload any prior certificate for EWS during the CUET form fill-up. However, on admission to any participating university, EWS claiming candidates must submit their EWS certificate.
