Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology 31st Convocation Ceremony: 2666 students awarded degrees

Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) was established in 1987. It is deemed to be university recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Sathyabama offers Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and Ph.D programmes in various fields of Engineering, Science, Technology, Law, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Nursing, Management, Arts and Science and Allied Health Sciences. It has been accredited with ‘A’ Grade by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council. The university has been ranked in 43rd position by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), in the University category for the year 2022.

Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology 31st Convocation Ceremony was held on September 3, 2022 in the university auditorium. The ceremony was presided by Chief Guest Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defence R & D and Chairman, DRDO, Hon. Chancellor Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, President Dr. Marie Johnson. Vice President Ms. Maria Bernadette Arul Selvan, Vice President Mr. J Arul Selvan, Vice President Ms. Maria Catherine Jayapria.

A total of 2666 graduates received their degrees, of which 2257 were Undergraduates, 409

Postgraduates and 143 Ph.D. scholars. Gold medals were awarded to 23 students for their exemplary performance in academics.

At Sathyabama University Honorary Doctorates (Honoris Causa) was presented to Dr. V. Balaguru, Scientist, Associate Director (MBT & TOT) & Project Director (Light Tank) (CVRDE), DRDO for his contribution to the design and development of Arjun MBT Mk-I and Light Tank. He has contributed to the Design of 5 Major and 25 Minor improved subsystems for Arjun MBT Mk-IA.

Honorary Doctorate was also presented to Mr. Yuvan Shankar Raja. He worked as a music composer at the age of 16 and composed music for more than 150 films in different languages.
