The competition is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in any recognized college or university in India. What is the IIM Bangalore National Student Case Competition Team Size?

Each team participating in the IIM Bangalore National Student Case Competition must have five students. Students are encouraged to form teams with members from different academic backgrounds, years and programmes. The organisers also encourage teams to maintain a good gender balance and include different perspectives and skills. Each student can participate in only one team. Therefore, students should choose their teammates carefully and build a team with a good mix of knowledge, skills and ideas.

What Is the Case Topic for IIM Bangalore National Student Case Competition?

The central case for the IIM Bangalore National Student Case Challenge 2026 is DigiYatra. DigiYatra enables seamless passenger movement at airports using facial authentication linked to travel credentials. Its ecosystem includes passengers, airlines, airports, the DigiYatra Foundation and technology service providers. Passengers voluntarily register using a government issued identity document and create a facial credential.

What Should Students Keep in Mind While Solving the Case?

While working on the selected task, teams should check whether their solution is technically possible and whether it can create real value for the public. Strong submissions should show a balance between innovation, trust, inclusion, fairness and long-term sustainability. Teams should consider the following questions:

• Does the proposed expansion solve a genuine public need?

• Is it necessary or merely convenient?

• Is there a less intrusive way to achieve the same goal?

• Do the benefits justify the risks?

• How will citizens' rights be protected?

• Will the proposal increase or reduce public trust?

• Can the system remain sustainable in the long term?

IIM Bangalore Case Competition 2026 Prize Money

The competition has a total prize pool of Rs. 5 lakh. At the National Finals, the winner of each track will receive Rs. 1 lakh. Apart from the prize money, participants also get an opportunity to gain national recognition, interact with experts and present their ideas at IIM Bangalore.Participants will also receive certificates of participation and merit.

What Happens in the IIM Bangalore Case Competition National Finals?

The nine shortlisted teams will move to Stage II. At this stage, teams will receive a new case challenge from the competition sponsor, Perfios, Anumati Account Aggregator. The finalists will be invited to the IIM Bangalore campus on the day of the Annual Conclave. They will need to analyze the new problem under time constraints and present clear, evidence-based recommendations. This stage is designed to test students' ability to think quickly, structure a complex problem and communicate a practical solution.
