The 5th VGU Ranka Moot Court Competition 2026 concluded grandly and successfully at Vivekananda Global University (VGU), Jaipur. This prestigious national-level legal competition was this year specially focused on the Environment and Constitution-based Moot Problem, in which participants presented their strong arguments on contemporary legal challenges. A total of 64 teams from prestigious law institutions across the country participated in this competition at VGU Jaipur, showcasing their reasoning ability, research skills, and deep understanding of court procedures.
This prestigious competition was held over three days. The competition commenced with Preliminary Rounds on 10 April 2026. On 11 April 2026, the Inaugural Ceremony was held along with Quarter Final Rounds, Research Test, and Social Media Round, which presented new challenges to the participants. On 12 April 2026, the exciting Semi-Final and Final Rounds were conducted, followed by a grand Valedictory Ceremony marking the conclusion of the competition. Participants presented impressive debates on extremely important and contemporary topics such as Environmental Protection, Fundamental Rights, State Obligations, and Sustainable Development. In the Valedictory Ceremony, the Hon'ble Justice Shri Narendra Kumar Jain, Former Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. S. C. Shastri, Director of Jaipur National University, attended as the Guest of Honour. Justice J. K. Ranka, Chairman of Ranka Public Charitable Trust, and the Vice Chairman also encouraged and motivated the participants on this occasion.

In the closing ceremony, law department students Muskan Sharma and Nandivardhana presented a brief report of the competition and highlighted the exciting journey of the three days before the audience. Prof. P. P. Mishra, Dean of the Law Department, praised the hard work and outstanding performance of the participants and said that such competitions develop genuine judicial thinking among students. Dr Shilpa Rao Rastogi, Head of the Law Department, presented the vote of thanks. President Prof. (Dr.) N. D. Mathur encouraged all participants and said that VGU is always committed to providing students with practical and quality legal education. He said that the participation of 64 teams from across the country in this competition is a testament to the growing national reputation of the university. Chief Guest Justice Narendra Kumar Jain said in his inspiring address that honesty, dedication, and hard work are all essential for success in the field of law. He said that Moot Court competitions provide students with the experience of a real court environment, which proves extremely useful in their professional lives.

Justice J. K. Ranka, addressing the students, said that such competitions play an important role in preparing future successful legal professionals. He said that the students who are competing here today will strengthen the judiciary of the country tomorrow. Guest of Honour Prof. S. C. Shastri highlighted the importance of practical legal education to the students and said that, along with theoretical knowledge, practical experience is what builds a successful advocate. He motivated the students to keep learning continuously and to sharpen their skills. In this prestigious competition, Dogra Law College, Jammu, claimed the Winner title. The Runner-Up position was secured by the Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad. The Best Memorial award was given to the Army Institute of Law, Mohali. The Best Researcher honour was conferred upon Shri Gaur, while the Best Speaker award was presented to Loria Sharma of Jaipur National University. During the ceremony, all winners and participants were honoured with trophies, certificates, and mementoes. This competition proved to be an extremely important platform for students, where they developed not only legal knowledge but also a deep understanding of practical judicial procedures. At the end of the programme, the organisers expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants, jury members, and guests, and resolved to continue organising such events in the future.
