An Interview with Isha Bhatt (Fashion Communication Student) at SID Pune

Symbiosis Institute of Design, located in Pune, is a private institution founded in 2004. Initially situated on SB Road, the institute relocated to Viman Nagar in 2006. SID Pune Courses are available at undergraduate level. SID Admissions are provided to the candidates who have a valid score in Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED).

SID Pune's B.Design course offers four specialized streams: Fashion, Industrial, Fashion Communication, and Communication Design. SID Pune Placements noted the highest package of Rs 18 LPA and average package between Rs 6-8 LPA. Careers360: Tell us something about yourself.

Isha Bhatt: My name is Isha Bhatt, and I am currently a second-year student in the Fashion Communication program at Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). As a budding designer, my journey in Fashion Communication is driven by my deep passion for poetry, music, and, of course, fashion elements that I believe are deeply connected in the world of art and self-expression.

Careers360: How did you come to choose your institution/university and what factors were instrumental in your choice?

Isha Bhatt: There were various factors contributing to me joining SID and pursuing my bachelor’s in fashion communication. The reputation of Symbiosis is known for its innovative approach to education and focus on practical learning. The infrastructure of the campus, the overall developmental approach, and the convenience of its location were few other factors.

Careers360: What were the salient features of your admission process at your institution/university that struck you as unique?

Isha Bhatt: Focus on the creative and overall aptitude is something that felt different than any other colleges I applied to. Symbiosis Institute of Design has a unique emphasis on creative and holistic evaluation processes. The admissions department of the institute was helpful at every step of the way and replied to the slightest doubts I had. As an aspirant, I had various queries, which were sorted immediately.

Careers360: What is your take on the initial days at your institution/university campus considering that it is the time to build contacts and understand the processes? Could you give details on the support given by the institute?

Isha Bhatt: Being from a completely different state and a first timer in Pune, it was quite difficult for me as well as several others to adjust in. The college ensured the initial days and orientation program was completed smoothly and allowed us to familiarize ourselves with the campus and the faculty. The institute provided a well-structured environment which made it easy to settle, and the faculty and college ensured that there were all the necessary resources available to the students such as workshops, lectures from industry professionals, alumni and college counsellors. The faculty is very supportive and warm which helped me to adjust quickly and overcome my homesickness.

Careers360: Now that you are a part of your institution/university campus, what in your opinion are stand apart features of the institute that you think are really assets to building a student’s career and future?

Isha Bhatt: As a student at SID, there are several prominent features of the college like interdisciplinary learning, industry exposure, placement support, international programs and the creative freedom given to the students which will surely help me to stand out after my graduation.

Careers360: Could you give details on the industry connection that is inbuilt with the course at SID, Pune and its advantages?

Isha Bhatt: At Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID), Pune, the industry connection integrated into the curriculum is one of the most valuable aspects of the educational experience. The mentorship and support from faculty and alumni have been instrumental in my growth, helping me refine my skills and build a strong portfolio. The vibrant campus life, coupled with the sense of community at SID, has made me feel connected and motivated. Overall, it has been an enriching journey, one that has equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in the fast-paced world of fashion.
