Careers360: Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested in or you switched?

Rebekah Alex (RA): I started my career in a custodian bank as an associate in the department “Investment Compliance” and worked there for a year and a half. We used to monitor investments made by our clients and ensure they don’t go above or fall below the limits that the client has set and investigate if it does. The field is definitely interesting but I am currently studying to work in different fields that I am more interested in. I know my commerce background and knowledge would help me be successful in it.

Careers360: Can you briefly tell us about your career path so far?

RA: It was a really interesting journey. The company I joined didn’t have a lot of freshers in my department but I managed to meet like minded people. Working with colleagues with 6-10 years of work experience helped me learn a lot of valuable lessons and grow as a person, and in the company.

Careers360: Is the Industry work different from what you learnt at CMR University?

RA: Not too different. My B.Com degree definitely helped me understand the concepts better and understand the work better. But regardless of what industry you work in, I personally feel the lessons you learn in business communication, marketing, business studies retail, accounting, these are all skills that can be applied in any field or industry.

Careers360: How do you think your time in college has added value to your life, both professional and personal?

RA: Life in college has definitely made me more of an extrovert to help me become more outgoing, open minded and these are skills that will help you so much in corporate life.

Careers360: What was your initial thought process when you joined CMR University?

RA: Just to try and make the most out of any opportunity. Be a part of everything as much as I can be.

Careers360: You must have spent a memorable time at your CMR University. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.

RA: Of course, I miss meeting my friends in the canteen, organising events, the choir family, going for fests and events. Corporate life is completely different, I miss college everyday.

Careers360: Briefly take us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do and your routine life.

RA: I would wake up in time to attend the first hour and rush to class. Then, classes would go on as per usual. Once classes were done, we would start the extra curricular activities such as the various club gatherings, meetings, choir practice, planning events, etc. I would never leave before 5 pm.

Careers360: Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in and how did it enrich your life?

RA: I was a member of the college choir, a few of us formed our own acapella group and attended many tests and events, the business club Bizzy Heights, and the cultural club vibrations. Apart from that, just helping out in organising the different events in college.

Careers360: How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements and what was the role of the institute in it?

RA: Just talking to colleagues, peers, fellow graduates and other alumni. Networking is the best way to know what’s happening. Talking to people from different positions and different companies helps you gain a lot of knowledge.

Careers360: You are a proud alumnus of this top College. What is the best part of CMR University from a student's perspective?

RA: The opportunities you get. For me as a student, being in CMR really gave me a lot of opportunities and helped me gain confidence. The experiences I had makes me the woman I am today. And the friends I made in CMR are like family to me to this day.

Careers360: What is your suggestion/guidance for the BCom aspirants?

RA: Just do proper research and figure out which course you’ve chosen and why, and try and make the most of whatever opportunity you can. Indulge in as many activities, keep building your hobbies, figure out how your interests and what your degree can do to help you.

Hi,

There may be lot of issues due to which a student maynot be able to continue his/her degree.  So, by explaining you current situation to your current institution in which you have completed your 1st semester, it is possible to leave the college legally and get your documents back upon request.

Inorder to leave an institution, you should get a No Objection Certificate and get it signed from the higher officials(principal or VC) of your current institute(college in which you have completed 1 sem of B.Tech) and submit it to the college(to which you are planning to join B.A) to which you will get admitted to.

As you have completed only one semester in B.Tech, most colleges will ask their students to pay the entire year's fee i.e, first year fee alone .  Get in touch with your institute to know more details about the fee.

Hi aspirant as usual placements are good for CSE. Many companies visited the campus like V Mware, Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture, Infosys, TCS, etc. The highest package offered in the previous year i.e. 2022 was 21 LPA from a Japanese based company. The average package of the college in respect of previous year around 5 LPA for CS and IT batches.

Thank You.
