The programme envisages cooperation in areas including internship opportunities for students, workshops on domestic and international arbitration, faculty development initiatives, institutional visits to the Arbitration and Conciliation Centre, and academic interactions between experts and students.
The event was attended by Ms Surekha Shetty, Registrar General, Alliance University; Sri. Vignesh Kumar, Deputy Director, Arbitration and Conciliation Centre; Dr. V. Shyam Kishore, Associate Dean (Academic Affairs) and Dean, Alliance School of Law; Dr. Devaiah N. G., Professor and Program Director – UG, Alliance School of Law; Dr. Chandrashekhar K. E., Professor and Associate Director, Academic Operations; Dr. Jayashree T., Associate Professor; Prof. Vishal Ranaware, Assistant Professor and In-charge, Alliance Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ACADR); and Ms. Preeti Jain, Associate Director, Office of Career Advancement and Networking.
Speaking on the occasion, representatives of both institutions highlighted that the collaboration would bridge the gap between academic learning and practical exposure to dispute resolution mechanisms, thereby preparing students for emerging opportunities in arbitration and conciliation practice. They further emphasised the growing importance and future of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), particularly arbitration, in the rapidly evolving legal and commercial landscape. With the increasing preference for efficient, cost-effective, and confidential dispute resolution mechanisms, arbitration is emerging as one of the most promising and dynamic areas of legal practice at both domestic and international levels.
The representatives also noted that such academic-industry collaborations would play a significant role in creating awareness, developing professional expertise among students, and promoting a robust ADR culture in India. The initiative is expected to contribute meaningfully towards strengthening the arbitration ecosystem and expanding the ADR footprint in the country.
