Sharda University Celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21

NEW DELHI: Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Dean Student Welfare jointly organised International Yoga Day on campus. During this event at Sharda University, foreign students and staff participated enthusiastically.

The event featured a series of yoga sessions suitable for all levels which is led by certified yoga instructors. International Yoga Day has something for everyone as one can choose from a variety of yoga styles including Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin. From the sessions, all participants got a holistic experience that emphasised different physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation.

The Pro Chancellor of Sharda University, Dr YK Gupta began with an address welcoming all the participants. He emphasised in his speech about the importance of yoga in fostering physical and mental health. He said, "Yoga is not just a form of exercise; it is a way of life that promotes balance, peace, and harmony. Our university is proud to host this event and encourage our community to embrace the benefits of yoga," said YK Gupta. Everyone should do yoga these days, from young children to elderly people. The only way to succeed in life is to practice yoga. The history of yoga in India is extensive. Yoga is an important aspect of Indian culture and the Vedas. The credit for the global recognition of yoga's importance goes to the Indian yoga teachers.

The Dean of Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. (Dr.) Anviti Gupta spoke on the occasion and said, “The event today has been a great way for us to get together, relax, and refresh. We practice yoga on a daily basis, yoga is an integral part of our campus culture." These kinds of gatherings bring together teachers, staff, and students during a day focused on belonging, mindfulness and wellbeing.
