SDM University’s 3rd Convocation: Grads Sparked to Serve with Passion and Purpose

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University, Dharwad was established in 2018. SDMU Dharwad courses that are offered include BSc, BPT, MBBS, MPT, MD, PG Diploma, MS and PhD. SDMU Dharwad admissions into these courses are given based on NEET UG, NEET PG and PGCET exams for UG and PG programmes. The interview process is considered for admission into a PhD programme.

The Third Convocation of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University was held on 3rd July 2025 at D.Veerendra Heggade Kalakshethra. Dr. Bhagavan BC, Eminent Surgeon and Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, was the Chief Guest. The Chancellor of the University, Poojya Shri D. Veerendra Heggade, presided over the Convocation ceremony.

Vice Chancellor, Dr. Niranjan Kumar, Executive Director – Smt. Padmalatha Niranjan, Pro Vice Chancellor, Shri Jeevandhar Kumar, Director Administration – Shri Saketh Shetty, Registrar – Dr. Chidendra M Shettar, Finance Officer – Shri VG Prabhu and other Dignitaries, Principals of all Constituent Colleges were present during the function.

The Chief Guest, Dr Bhagavan BC, told in his Convocation address that:

• The purpose of acquiringa good education is to contribute in Nation Building

• Doctors should dedicate by serving their society and needy people

• Develop the trust in Teachers for their sacrifices for shaping you

Everyone should have the ability to learn, and we should not lose the interest of learning. Keep updating by learning from the books, teachers and mentors:

• Doctors should deal with the health of people, but not the wealth of the people

• Patient care should beyond all religion, region and race

• Doctors services is to be the linked with the health of the Society and God

Poojya Shri D. Veerendra Heggade, the Chancellor, declared open the convocation and conferred the Degrees of the Graduates. In his address, Chancellor stressed that:

• All graduates are requested to follow and practise the ethics in the oath

• SDM Institutions has a brand name at globally

• SDM Institutions treats all students as our children

• Treat the patients with utmost love and care

• Remember the sacrifices of your parents and teachers

• Honesty, Hard work makes doctors greater and greater

• Involved in extracurricular activities to balance the mind and body

375 Under Graduates and 146 Post Graduates received their Degrees from the Chief Guests.

The students received their degrees from the Poojya Shri. D. Veerendra Heggade, Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr. Bhagavan B.C. and Dr. Niranjan Kumar, Vice Chancellor. 10 meritorious students have received the University Gold Medals.

Dr. Vijay Kulkarni, Principal, SDM Medical College, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Chidendra M. Shettar, Registrar, presented the Annual Report. Dr. Balaram D. Naik, Principal, SDM Dental College, administered the Oath to the graduates. Dr. Sathyabodh Guttal, Controller of Examinations, presented the facts and figures of the Graduates. The Chancellor felicitated the Chief Guest. Dr. Kiran Aithal, Prof. & Head, Dept. of Medicine, introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. Vidya Patil & Dr. Manjunath Hosamani, SDM Medical College presented the Gold Medallists. Dr. Sudhir Bhatbolan & Dr. Priyanka Mothi compered the program. Dr. Sanjay Parmar, Principal of Physiotherapy, proposed the Vote of thanks.
