M.Com

A Candidate who passed B.Com or B.Com (CA) or any other UG program considered as equivalent to B.Com under 10+2+3 system of this University or any of the degree of any other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto subject to such conditions as may be prescribed therefore shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Com degree examination of this University after a course of study of two academic years.

M.C.A.

Candidates who have passed in any one of the following or equivalent are eligible to apply:

(i) BCA / Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent Degree. OR

(ii) B.Sc., / B.Com. / B.A. with Mathematics at 10th, +2 level or at Graduation Level (with additional bridge Courses as per the norms of the concerned University).

Bridge Course on Basics in Computer Science Course duration: 30 Hours

Course Modules: Module 1: Computer Organization and Architecture Module 2: Data Structures and Algorithms Module 3: Problem Solving Techniques Module 4: Operating Systems Module 5: Object oriented programming Module 6: Database Management System Module 7: Software Engineering Module 8: Computer Networks Obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying Examination.

M.Sc. Computer Science

A candidate who has passed B.Sc. Computer Science/B.C.A/B.Sc. Computer Technology/B.Sc. Information Science/Technology degree of this University or any of the degree of any other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto subject to such conditions as may be prescribed therefore shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc. Computer Science degree examination of this University after a course of study of two academic years.

M.Sc. Data Science

A candidate who has passed Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering/ Electronics and communication Engineering/ Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering/ Computer Science/ Computer Technology/ Software Engineering/ BCA/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics/ Data Science/ Data Analytics/ Electronics/ Electronics and Communications under 10+2/3+2/3/4 system of this University or any of the degree of any other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto subject to such conditions as may be prescribed therefore shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc. Data Science degree examination of this University after a course of study of two academic years.

B.Voc. AR/VR (Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality-Immersive Media Design)

Those who have passed +2 examinations in any stream approved by TNBSC/CBSE/ICSE or any Diploma/UG degree, approved by the Association of Indian Universities are eligible for admission. Vocational stream students are most preferred.

M.Sc. Mathematics

A candidate who has passed B.Sc. Degree Examination in Branch I- Mathematics and Mathematics (CA) of this University or an examination of some other university accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc. Mathematics (CBCS) Degree Examination of this university after a course of two academic years in the Department of Mathematics of Periyar University.

Master of Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc)

A candidate who has passed ANY degree examination of this University or an examination of any other Universities / Institutions approved and accepted by the Syndicate of this University as equivalent thereto.

M.Sc. Statistics

A candidate who has acquired B.Sc. Degree in Statistics or B.Sc. Degree in Mathematics with Statistics or Mathematical Statistics as an Allied / Ancillary subject securing 45% of marks (40% in the case of SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in Part III shall be permitted to join the course, appear in the University Examinations and qualify for the award of M.Sc. (Statistics) degree after the course of study in the Department of Statistics at this University. Candidates who have acquired B. Sc. Degree in Statistics shall be given preference in the admission to this course.

M.Sc. Physics

A candidate who has passed B.Sc. Degree Examinations in Branch III - Physics of this University or examinations of some other university accepted by the syndicate as equivalent there to shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc Physics (CBCS) Degree Examinations of this university after a course of two academic year in the Department of Physics of Periyar University.

M.Sc. Chemistry

A candidate who has passed B.Sc., Degree Examination with Branch IV Chemistry as main subject of study of this university or any other university or any of the B.Sc., Degree Examination with specialization such as Industrial Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry or any other specialization in Chemistry of some other university accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto, subject to such condition as may be prescribed thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc. degree in Chemistry of this University after a course of study of two academic years.

M.A. English

Any candidate who has passed B.A. English or any other Bachelor’s degree examination of this University or any other University recognised by the syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for M.A. English (2 years programme). Preference will be given to students of B.A. English. Students from other Bachelor’s degrees must possess a minimum of 60% in Part II English and must have done two papers in English under the non semester system or four papers in English under the semester system.

M.A. Sociology

A candidate who has passed any UG degree of this University or a similar examination of any other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.A. Sociology.

M.A. Journalism And Mass Communication

A candidate who has passed any UG (bachelors) degree [ in 10+2+3 pattern] or in any pattern considered equivalent by this University or an examination of any other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the MA Journalism and Mass Communication..

M.A. Journalism And Mass Communication (Electronic Media) (5 Years Integrated Programme)

A pass in Higher Secondary Examination or an Examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the syndicate (10+2 or 10+3 year Diploma), subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereto are permitted to appear and qualify for the Master of Arts in Journalism And Mass Communication (Electronic Media) [5 year integrated Course]degree examination of this university. This comprises a course of study of three and two academic years (six and four semesters) distinctly. A UG degree will be awarded Bachelor of Arts [BA] in Journalism and Mass Communication [Electronic Media] after the successful completion of three years. All the papers in the first three years of study will have to be passed in order to progress to the fourth year of study. Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (Electronic Media) will be awarded after the successful completion of fourth and fifth years of study. Those who are unsuccessful at the end of the sixth semester [third year], will have to clear all the pending papers, and rejoin afterwards in the fourth year of study.

M.A. History

Any Graduate/ Preference will be given to History Graduates.

M.A. Economics

A candidate who has passed B.A., Economics / Cooperation or B.Com. or B.B.M., or B.B.A., or B.Sc., Mathematics or Statistics degree examination of Periyar University or an examination of some other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.A., Economics in the Department of Economics of the Periyar University.

M.Sc. Applied Geology

A candidate who has passed B.Sc. degree in Applied Geology/ Geology of this university or an examination of any other university accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc Applied Geology Degree examinations /of this university after a course of two academic years, in the Department of Geology, Periyar University.

M.Sc. Energy Science

Candidates who have passed the B.Sc. degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Energy / Electronics/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Mathematics/ Nano Science of this University or any other University shall be eligible for admission to M.Sc. degree of this University.

M.Tech., Energy Technology

Candidate who has passed the B.E/B.Tech degree in Aeronautical/Agricultural/ Automobile/ Chemical Engineering/ Civil/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Energy and Environment/ Instrumentation/ Mechanical/ Mechatronics/ Nano Technology or M.Sc., degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Energy / Material Science of this University or any other University shall be eligible for admission to M.Tech., degree of this University.

M.Sc. Biochemistry

Graduates in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Bachelors of medical lab technology, Microbiology and Life Sciences as principal subjects or Biochemistry as subsidiary subjects are eligible for admission to the course.

M.Sc. Biotechnology

Candidate who has passed the Under Graduation in any of the Biological Science subjects (Animal Sciences/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Botany/ /Environmental Science/Food Science/Genetic Engineering/Industrial Biotechnology/ Marine Biotechnology/Medical Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Molecular Biology/Nano Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Life Science) and or equivalent in undergraduate subjects as above of any University recognized by the syndicate as equivalent thereto.

M.Sc. Applied Psychology

A candidate who has passed any UG (Bachelors) degree of this University or an examination of any other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the MSc. Applied Psychology.

M.Sc. Microbiology

Candidate who has passed the B.Sc. degree in any Life Sciences [Microbiology/ Applied Microbiology/ Industrial Microbiology/ Botany/ Plant Sciences and Plant Biotechnology/ Zoology/ Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Biology/Chemistry with Botany/ Zoology as Allied Subjects] of this university or an examination of any other university accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to M.Sc. Degree Course in Microbiology.

M.Sc. Botany

Candidate who has passed the B.Sc., degree in Botany/Plant Science/Life Science of the university or an examination of any other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to M.Sc., degree of this university recognized by the syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible to register for the degree of master in Botany and undergo the prescribed course of study in an approved department of this university.

M.Sc. Zoology

Candidates who have qualified B.Sc., Zoology / Animal Science / Any other Degree related to Zoology / Life Sciences approved by the Syndicate of Periyar University, Salem.

M.Sc. Environmental Science

Candidates who have passed the B.Sc. Degree in Environmental Science / Life Sciences / Botany / Agricultural and allied Sciences/ Zoology / Microbiology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Chemistry/ Geology / Geography / Mathematics / Physics / Bioinformatics / Home Science / Food Science & Nutrition, any other relevant UG courses of this University or an Examination of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to M.Sc. Degree Course in Environmental Science.

Five Year Integrated

M. Sc. Environmental Science

Candidate who has passed in Higher Secondary Examinations with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology/ Botany/ Zoology/ Agriculture/ Microbiology/ Computer Science or any other Life Science subjects or any other Examination as equivalent thereto under the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Government of Tamil Nadu / CBSE / ICSE or any other boards equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to Five years Integrated M.Sc. Degree Programme in Environmental Science.

M.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics

A B.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, / Home Science / Food Science and Nutrition / Applied Nutrition / Biomedical Science / Biochemistry / Clinical Biochemistry / any B.Sc. in Life Science / B.A. Home Economics. B.Sc. Food Service Management and Dietetics / Human Science / Nutrition and Dietetics / Foods and Nutrition / Nursing. Any Bachelor Degree in Medicine /Bachelor degree in Allied Health Sciences.

M.Sc. Food Science Technology and Nutrition

B.Sc. Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics/Food Science and Nutrition/Food Technology, B.Tech./B.Sc. (H) in Food Technology, B.Voc. in Food Science and Nutrition related discipline, B.Sc./B.A. Home Science, B.Sc. Catering Science, B.Sc. Life Science (Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biochemistry) and UG Degree in Allied Health Sciences (B.Sc. Nursing) approved by the Association of Indian Universities are eligible to seek admission. The first order of preference for eligibility is a. B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics b. B.Sc. Food Science and Nutrition c. B.Sc. and B.Sc. (H) Food Technology/Food Science and Technology d. B.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics e. B.Sc. Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics f. B.Sc. Nutrition and Health Education g. B.Voc. Food Science and Nutrition h. B.Voc. Food Process Engineering i. B.Voc. Food Processing Technology j. B.Voc. Food Processing and Quality Control k. B.Tech. Food Technology. The second order of preference for eligibility is a. B.Sc. Home Science b. B.Sc. Catering Science/Catering c. B.Sc. Biotechnology d. B.Sc. Microbiology e. B.Sc. Biochemistry. The third order of preference for eligibility is a. B.Sc. Nursing.

B.Voc. Food Science And Nutrition

Any candidate passed +2 examinations in any subject approved by State Board of School Examinations, Tamil Nadu/CBSE/ICSE or any Diploma (10+3 Years) /any UG degree, approved by the Association of Indian Universities are eligible to seek admission. Vocational stream students are most preferred. No age Limit.

M.Sc. Textiles and Apparel Design

A pass in Costume Design and Fashion, B.Sc Textiles and Apparel Design, B.Sc Textiles and Fashion Design, B.Sc Fashion Technology, B.Sc Textiles and Clothing and any other B.Sc degree related to the discipline of Textiles and Fashion, B.Voc Textiles and Apparel Design and relevant disciplines of B.Voc Programme are eligible.

B.Voc. Textiles and Apparel Design

Any candidate passed +2 examinations in any subject approved by State Board of School Examinations, Tamil Nadu/CBSE/ICSE or any Diploma (10+3 Years) /any UG degree, approved by the Association of Indian Universities are eligible to seek admission. Vocational stream students are most preferred. No age Limit.

M.Ed. Education

Candidates seeking admission to M.Ed., programme should have obtained at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the following programmes. i. B.Ed., ii. B.A., B.Ed., / B.Sc., B.Ed., iii. B.El.Ed., iv. D.El.Ed., with an undergraduate degree with 50% marks in each. 5 % relaxation in marks to be given for the students belongs to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe. Admission will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and entrance examination.

Bachelor of Education B.Ed.

( Part Time)

The candidates who fulfill the following criteria alone are eligible for B.Ed. admission:

a. Upper Primary and Secondary School Teachers who are in service on a full time basis (Govt./Govt. Aided/Private)

b. UG/PG Degree in the relevant subjects with 50% of marks

(For BC candidate 45%, MBC Candidate 43%, and for SC/ST Candidates 40%)

c. The procedure of admission is as per the norms of Periyar University. Admission is based on the reservation policy of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Rank list will be prepared based on the marks scored in the qualifying examination.

M.B.A.

A pass in a recognized Bachelor’s Degree of Minimum of 3 years duration and obtained at least 50% marks (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination and TANCET/MAT/CAT Score/Entrance Examination specifically conducted from the Department of management Studies or any other equivalent admission test score (For above said exam scores, only the latest entrance exam test score will be considered), Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

M.B.A.Export Management

The candidate who has passed any UG Degree with not less than 55% in aggregate
