Careers360: Tell us something about the institute; when it was set up, vision, and mission.

Dr. Gadiya: Mewar University is a self-financed university established as per Rajasthan Govt., Mewar University Act -2009 "No. F.2(1) Vidhi/2/2009 in the persuasion of clause (3) of article 348 of the constitution of India. The University is recognized and approved under sections 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act and empowered to confer a Degree/Diploma/ certification under 22(1) of the UGC Act. The Mewar University is NAAC accredited with a grade "B" as well approved by AICTE, Pharmacy Council of India (PC1), and Bar Council of India (BCI). National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The University is imparting higher education since 2009 and provided higher education to thousands of students till now since its establishment. The prime streams of the university are:

Careers360: Tell us something about the admission process.

Dr. Gadiya: The Mewar University is a private and self-financing University and a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University has obtained the approval of various Regulatory bodies wherever it is required i.e. UGC, AICTE, NCTE, BCI, PCI, and others. There are various courses, in which approval of any regulatory body is not required, courses are directly approved by the Board of Management on the recommendation of the academic council. The Board of Management is the highest authority of the University as specified in the Mewar University Act 2009.

Mewar University admission process is fully transparent and student-centric. The notification for admission is given in the Mewar University website calling for registration and given the facilities for WhatsApp chat and Toll-free telephone numbers. Our student counselors counsel the students online and offline about the fee structure, infrastructure availability, and other details that students and their parents need. For the programs registered by the prospective students as per the guidelines given by the regulatory bodies the merit list will be prepared and there will be three rounds of admission based on the merit list. Thereafter first come first serve basis admission will be given. Mewar University follows the Government’s reservation policies, and students are encouraged to avail of the scholarships, under the category of ST, SC, OBC, and Minorities. A Helpdesk is available for this. Mewar University is a member of CUET. While preparing the merit list the student’s performance in the CUET will be taken into consideration and students will be admitted accordingly. The University will give scholarships on a merit cum need basis.

Careers360: What kind of infrastructure can students expect at the institute? Please elaborate.

Dr. Gadiya: Our University is having more than the facilities required by the approving statutory bodies like AICTE, BCI, and PCI. The university is having well- qualified Faculty members from 26 states of India and some from overseas also, having acquired qualifications from reputed institutions across the globe. More than 50% of classrooms are Smart Class Rooms and we have the facilities like various departmental laboratories, a central Computing Centre, a language lab, Conference Halls, museums, Auditorium, Modern Library, Training, and Placement Department and Sports facilities (Football Ground, Cricket Ground, 400mtrs Track, Gym) University has a guest house and separate secured hostels for both Boys and Girls students. The Campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled and 24*7 Securities in operation having modern gadgets like 350 CCTV Cameras. Hence the Students have a good teaching-learning process with curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. The outgoing students are ensured with a rich profile having additional skill sets also and they are employable.

Careers360: There is a lot of stress that is being made with regard to interaction with the industry as well as companies that recruit. What are the steps being taken by the institute in this direction?

Dr. Gadiya: There is a wide gap between what academic institutions are providing and what industries need in terms of the professional workforce. Most of the students passing out from academic institutions are not industry oriented and hence remain unemployable.

Understanding this peculiar situation Mewar University has taken a unique initiative for the gainful employment of its students through a systematic synergy between academia and industry and aims to offer them best training and adequate industrial exposure, which equips them with the required practical experience, enabling them to get better placement opportunities.

For developing this synergistic network reaching out to various industries is most important. To ensure this a dedicated team of professionals who are regularly on the move and trying to connect the companies. The outcome of these efforts is that, as of date, the university has a strong corporate connection with more than 200 companies located in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi to name a few.

Careers360: Internships are now mandatory as per AICTE guidelines. Does the institute help students with this? If yes, how?

Dr. Gadiya: Since its inception, Mewar University has emphasized the practical exposure of the students. To ensure this, the course curriculum is devised so that the last semester has a mandatory internship, which happens in various industries located across the country. This internship on the one hand helps the students to acquire practical hands-on experience before completing the degree and on the other side it helps the organization in their search for getting an ideal workforce. As the students in the early months learn and later start performing, based on their performance, commitment, and willingness, the students get placement opportunities within the same organizations. Every year, many candidates sent for internships at various organizations succeed in converting them into permanent jobs.
