Students whose names have appeared on Calcutta University merit list 2025 are required to attend the counselling process to proceed in the admission process. For PG courses at Calcutta University, the admission process is conducted in two ways.

Students who have completed their UG degree from CU will be shortlisted based on their merit scores obtained in the last qualifying exam, whereas, all the non-CU students are shortlisted based on the entrance exam conducted by the university. It is important to note that 80% of the total seats are reserved for CU students. The CU counselling 2025 will be conducted in two parts. Part A of the counselling will be based on students whose names appeared in the CU first merit list. Based on the vacant seats after Part A is conducted, CU counselling Part B will begin. Dear Rashi,

Calcutta University does not allow M.A /M.Sc admission in economics if you haven't graduated with Economics as an honours subject with min 60% and above.

This is the main eligibility  criteria for getting admission in CU to your preferred discipline to obtain masters degree !

to know more information  about CU PG admission procedure , refer to this link :

https://university.careers360.com/articles/university-of-calcutta-admission

But , don't worry .. you can opt for IGNOU as it allows the students to take admission in M.A economics who haven't any background in Economics at Graduate level.

Just go through the website of IGNOU for further details about the course !

Hope it helps !!

Best wishes !!
