Careers360 brings you an interview with Shivani Gupta, a BBA LLB HONS, 3rd year student at Bennett University, Greater Noida. In her interview, Shivani has shared his experience and life at Bennett University. What is life like inside the university? How did he choose BTech as a career path? Q. Tell us something about yourself such as from which place are you from?

Shivani Gupta: I am Shivani Gupta, a third year BBA LLB HONS student. I hail from Pune, Maharashtra. I am a trained dancer in various forms, and I had played several sports during my school days such as swimming, badminton, boxing etc. I have always been a student who has been equally involved in extracurriculars and academics. And in Bennett, I have aimed to pursue the same goal.


Q. Presently which course are you pursuing and in which year are you?

Shivani Gupta: I am pursuing BBA LLB HONS. I am in my 3rd year.


Q. Did you face any difficulty in the initial months when you joined the institute?

Shivani Gupta: I was honestly very skeptical about starting my college life in greater Noida. It was a very big shift for me. But the atmosphere at Bennett University made me comfortable in no time.


Q. What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc for the various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?

Shivani Gupta: One thing which kept me moving in my difficult times was dancing. Verve and Rivaaz are the western and Indian dance clubs of the university, I became the part of the team and soon I became the leading choreographer which boosted my confidence, and I got an opportunity to perform in the college fest and various other events. Bennett also offered sports facilities like swimming, squash, table tennis and it had almost all the sports and students could choose their domain. I also became part of the swim team. Presently, there are 40+ clubs.

Q. Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?

Shivani Gupta: So I wake up around 7 and till 7:30 am I do some breathing exercises and Yoga with Yoga Club then I take a quick shower and run to mess till 8: 00 am and our classes begin from 8:30 am till 1: 30 we have classes. And at 1: 30 we rush to Lunch and by 2:30 I am back in my room. And after this I like to take a quick nap till 3:30 pm. After which I attend meetings with clubs and DSA members since I am part of the Student Council. By 6: 00 pm I go to the library and start studying and working on my assignments. And from 8:30 – 9:30 I have dinner and then we go for a walk with our group and by 11 I am back to bed.

Q. Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.

Shivani Gupta: The faculty-student relationship differs from faculty to faculty. Our teachers are extremely helpful, and they mentor us with utmost faith and provide us with many skillful opportunities.


Q. What facilities do you have on campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?

Shivani Gupta: We have a sports block which comprises many courts as per the respective sport. For example, Tennis, Squash, Badminton, Lawn tennis, basketball etc. Sports block also has room for indoor sports and it has one gym. Apart from this we have a dance room, music room and we also have a swimming pool. I have a profound interest in dance and swimming, so I like the dance room and pool.


Q. How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?

Shivani Gupta: Twice a week, the cleaning staff comes and cleans the room. I’m satisfied with the hostel cleanliness and comfortability.


Q. What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?

Shivani Gupta: The medical center which is a wellness center is available 24 hours and one can go to the center and get a check-up and the immediate response is given to the concerned person with requisite treatment or medicines.


Q. How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?

Shivani Gupta: I’ll be able to balance all things easily because of the help of faculty.


Q. Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or students’ point of view?

Shivani Gupta: The Student Council under the department of Governance has established several clubs out of which some are solely dedicated to community services. These services are given to the needy of society in the form of a student-oriented activity that enlightens students with a sense of awareness and a realization of giving back to society.
Through the school of law, we have provided free legal aid services to underprivileged members of society. For example - We have led a campaign where we taught the needy and importance of marriage certificates in one's married life. We have established clubs like Alexis - a Social Service Club & a Girl's Health club which primarily focus on the approach of providing services to society, be it stating the importance of girls' education or organizing blood donation drives. The sports community of the university has also organized various Zumba sessions for the kids of NGOs. We have also celebrated International Women's Day with the theme to establish equality between men & women and there should be no discrimination among any gender.
Other clubs like verve dance club, food and cuisine club, cerebrum club, technotix club focuses on their respective domain such as poetry, prevention of food wastage, promoting dance activities, drama etc.

Through the above-mentioned anecdotes, the students feel delighted when they participate in these institutional activities.

Q. Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?

Shivani Gupta: We have a newsletter which is updated every semester, it covers all the significant events and achievements of the semester. We have social media accounts where all the upcoming activities are posted.


Q. What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Shivani Gupta: Students usually hangout in ground benches or at eating joints which are established on campus. With respect to outdoor activities, students usually go to nearby malls or restaurants such as DLF, Grand Venice etc.


Q. How do you spend your leisure time at the campus?

Shivani Gupta: I really like to go for walks at the campus or play some sport or hangout with friends or quick dance sessions, these are my ways of leisure.


Q. Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life at campus?

Shivani Gupta: We do have a Facebook page, Instagram page, LinkedIn page and YouTube page.

Q. What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?

Shivani Gupta: We have a Career Service Cell which solely focuses on the process of getting students placed and providing them Internships. Top-notch companies like Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Amazon, have taken students from our university with packages as high as 57 LPA.
